Very nice and love the signing. Bohl has been pretty good at picking out JC guys that can contribute.

I couldn't find his 40 time. Anyone have that?

When word surfaced that we were recruiting I did see this:
Rico Gafford - Dowling. 4.38 (40 @ ISU Camp) and a 10.61 (100 meter at Drake Relays)

Other comments about him being fast as hell!

What make you think that? I don't see any substantive proof that he has been successful with picking JC guys that can contribute. Have as many misses as hits in his two years so far.

JACOB HOLLISTER, TE, Arizona Western C.C.
AARON YOUNG, QB, ASA College

JOSH ALLEN, QB, Reedley C.C.
TAVITA FAAIU, DE, City College of San Francisco

Aaron young was a big swing and a miss. In terms of talent, all the rest are or could have been contributors. Attrition is an attrition problem (i.e. Faaiu). Josh Allen is supposed to be the savior at QB and Hollister is a serviceable TE.

If he signed 5 per class with that success rate, it wouldn't be bad especially if attrition is avoided.

I see he is a two star recruit. I'll be a lot more excited when I see three star guys committing.

You're not allowed to say that here. Because every recruit we get is the best ever.

Looks like he is fast ,which is going to be great if he has the playing ability to go with it . Hope there is real size comming in too .

Unfortunately, Beave, this program has gone to shit for so long that 3+ star kids slipping through the cracks are going to be tough to land. I agree with you about the 2 win season making things more difficult (that has been hashed and rehashed).

I would say relative to DC and Glenn, Bohl is doing decent on the recruiting trail. However, I wouldn't expect a highly rated recruiting class (even within the MWC) for awhile. We have to hope that this staff has the ability to win with what they get. Now, to their benefit, that is MUCH easier at the G5 ranks because the recruiting ranking largely go to crap once you get outside of 3 and 4 stars. Naturally, teams like BSU will be tough to catch until we get more of those, but it is what it is.

There are no realistic coaching options that are going to come in and start landing a bunch of 3+ star kids with the resources we give them and our current reputation.

That is why I would bend over backwards if I were in charge to pay a bunch of money to top young assistants with recruiting contacts in the South and California. But, then again, DC selected a few TX kids that left, so that means we must avoid that state forever at WYO

Come on Beav......stars mean shit until proven otherwise. Proof is in the pudding. Would you get rid of Brian Hill for a 3* guy? How about Andrew Wingard? How have our 3* guys done in the past? Eddie has kicked butt, but who else? We have had more swings and misses with 3* guys....more misses than hits.

Do you honestly believe that, Jimmy? Look up all-conference players and then look up their recruiting profile. Do that for any conference. You'll definitely find an exception to the rule, but, if you take 20-25 recruits every year that rated 3+ stars, you are going to kick the shit out of teams that take 20-25 recruits that are rated 2 stars or less.

I'm not sure why the myth that stars don't mean anything perpetuates on this board. It is like saying a cancer with a 98% mortality rate isn't dangerous because 2% of the people who develop it live.

I'm willing to bet 60% or higher of our three star recruits that come here leave early and transfer out. But we have gotten a number of 2 star recruits that I wouldn't trade for a 4 star recruit.

First, how has the past 15 or so years been? I could probably just end with that.

So, I guess we avoid recruiting 3+ star kids, Texas kids, and JC kids? Damn, we should probably avoid the WYO kids like the plague.

So, how about an example of HIGHLY successful CFB programs that load up on 2 star (or fewer) kids? You go first and then I'll list the HIGHLY successful programs that load up on 3+ star kids. After that, we can move to all-conference players and such.

Joe you do realize stars are given to recruits based on who is recruiting them. We had a 2* get turned into a 3* this year....the LB/DE from Nebraska. We've also had many 3* recruits over the years get demoted to 2* for no reason other than they committed to play football at Wyoming. And, every recruiting site ranks players differently....we have 4 or 5 3* guys in the current class if you look at 247 sports....2 if you follow Rivals....and none if you follow Scout. And many time the guys getting the 3*'s are then same from service to service.

It is a complete crap shoot IMO.

Look, I'm not saying the recruiting rating are the end all be all, but I'd take a roster full of 3+ star guys over a roster of 2 stars or fewer guys any day of the week.

And you'd be an idiot not too. It's ridiculous that this is even an argument

I just noticed that. So, according to all sites, about 6 of our 19 recruits are ranked as 3*s.

I think that is a slight uptick from Glenn and DC. Definitely an improvement over last year.

I do think Bohl and company are good recruiters and have a pretty good eye for talent.
