Fire Vigen

Lol at this thread.

Play calling wasn't always the best today but Wyoming also went up against one of the best front 7's in all of college football .

Wyoming will move the ball better on everyone else the rest of the year. Everyone relax.

Iowa will be near the bottom of its conference and has nowhere near one of the best front sevens in football. You're delusional.

A good play caller would not try to power run up the middle against one of the best front 7 in college football on every 3rd and 4th and short especially after it didnt work the first, second, third, and fourth times

Like I said play calling wasn't always the best today but to be honest it wouldn't have mattered what he called. Iowa's front 7 is to good for what we have overall on offense.
It seems you would use the one strength you know you have, Josh's arm. No, instead, let's run Josh up the gut.....smh

Well maybe Vigen and Bohl already knew without Fort and Price we had a better chance running the ball because our receivers wouldn't be able to get open or catch the ball. Who knows.

Is that you, Vigen?

The only one delusional is you. You obviously don't know the landscape of college football.

Get back to me at the end of the year and we will see where Iowa's defense ends up.

Can't believe 4 turnovers = 3 points. Allen played extremely well considering. The wide receivers need to drink some 4 hour energy. Oline played well. Special teams not good.

Defense was incredible, our man coverage needs some work. On the one touchdown to the seam tightend, that was on the scheme. Granderson shouldn't be on receiving tightend... He needs to be on a tackle... If forced to lineup on tightend, we need a linebacker on his inside hip.

Allen helped his stock today... Big-time. But we need to find some playmaking from the receivers.

Good game to Iowa. The beat us good
You've got to be kidding. While the play-calling and receiving were definitely suspect, Allen was not up to par. Both INT's were poor throws and the intentional grounding was not an NFL-caliber attempt to get rid of the bottle. He tried to rocket a swing pass to a player 10 yards from him laterally instead of lofting it to him. He's got to learn to have more "touch" with the ball.

Zero TD's and 2 INT's did NOT help his draft stock. Quite the opposite...

To quote Tom Brady's wife: "he can't throw and catch the fu@#ing ball". I remember a pretty good throw that got bobbled right through the end zone. I also remember some other drops. Josh Allen is not perfect. But he is really good at throwing the ball down the field, not some half assed version of the west coast offense. I look forward to watching this offense progress this year. Allen can play better. But he needs a running game that averages more than 1.4 yds a carry and some receivers who can actually get open.

This thread is beyond idiotic.

If you thought the Wyoming offense would pick up where they left off last year with the players we lost, then you don't know much about football. Growing pains were always going to happen on offense. You will be the same clowns crowing about how good the offense is if they put up 50 on Gardner-Webb next week.

Bohl's QBs usually have a lot of freedom to change calls and protection at the line of scrimmage. If Vigen makes a poor call, Allen probably had the opportunity to adjust.... limited however on the personnel package in the game.

One wonders what the game plan called for and the latitude to change at the line of scrimmage.

I didn't expect the offense to pick up where they ended last year. I suppose it was too much to hope for that Vigen had changed his idea of a gameplan, but "nada".

Well they will probably bitch if we don't put up 100 on Gardner Webb since they lost to North Carolina A&T today 45-3.

Pick up where they left off, no, but that was Jr high crap we saw today. Inexcusable. 3 pts! 3! This isn't the first time we've seen this from Vigen. The guy is bad at his job

Long-time reader, first-time poster. I get that this is a place for fans to vent, but anyone who thinks we should fire Vigen is an idiot, plain and simple. Not saying we put on a great offensive performance today, but please keep in mind this is likely the best defense we'll play all year.

Maybe you guys can get near the end zone next week against the JUCO your playing? Or will that be too difficult for your "NFL quarterback" again? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Thanks for making a profile to come defend yourself Mr. Vigen. And remember, when you have a stud quarterback it's always best to not let him throw but rather, treat him like a running back. Also, if you get stuffed on 25 third and ones, that 26th one is a guaranteed first down.

40 pass attempts, and 30 rushing attempts. Allen ran 5 times (not counting the 3 sacks). He probably should have handed off 2 of those. How does that translate into "treating him like a running back." Did you even watch the game?

Iowa is a middling at best Big 10 team. Some of you act like they are the goddamn 85 Bears on defense.

I saw a game that was very winnable if we had just a little creativity on the offensive side. Vigen's patented 3 and out offense is not getting it done. Everyone in the stadium knew what play was coming and we still ran that play. We had 4 takeaways which resulted in 3 points, that is unacceptable at any level.

Exactly. To force that many turnovers and do nothing with them is just horrid.

Vigen has had predictable play calling since he got here. He even admitted all his game plans and play calling for the OOC games is watered down and purposefully vanilla. We will keep losing winnable games until this changes. Every 1st down on our side of the 50 last year was an ISO left or right. Every time. Not even exaggerating. It's getting old and it's not helping in setting up play action calls later on.

3 points on 4 turnovers is inexcusable. UW made $1M, defense was overall much improved, special teams were special, and that game was winnable. The drop off in skill positions was greater than anticipated, that hurt. Running outside the A gap on short yardage plays is not exactly a difficult adjustment to make, eliminating the read option against a disciplined defense isnt hard, and throwing a slant instead of an out route would at least be running somewhat north/south for the receivers. Vanilla play calling and watered down game plan makes no fing sense. It was a frustrating game telling the boob tube to not run up the middle or throw 20 yds to a receiver within 5 yds of the line of scrimmage, and then seeing those exact plays happen. I do think vigen is capable, but that was the most conservative play calling ive seen since a jr high game. In a winnable ooc game that could have stepped this team up, i dont like seeing 3 pts on 4 turnovers. Their defense was good and disciplined. They kept 2 deep and we only got behind them 1 time and the wr shit his pants. The qb rollouts didnt work because they were fast and stayed home. Fire vigen no....bash him relentlessly, absolutely. With a stud qb, he couldnt set us up for any success, the play calling was horrid, but that game was winnable. Expecting more from our offense with a qb like that against a middling b1g team is not unreasonable, especially with 4 tos, from a potential mw conferrnce contender. G5 teams typically need some wrinkle of surprise to win against the p5, all i want to see is throws farther than 5 yds downfield. Rant over.

How do all you experts know Iowa is going to be a middling Big 10 team?

The fact is you don't.

It will be between them and Wisconsin most likely as to who goes to the Big 10 championship game in their division this year. Although Iowa does have a tough schedule having to face Penn St. And Ohio St. from the other side.

Guess we will see.

Fact is we were also without two of our starters at the skills positions and I guarantee that hurt us somewhat.

Iowa's defense had something to do with us not moving the ball so you should probably give them some credit.

Going to laugh at all of you next week when Wyoming scores 50 and you think Vigen called a great game.

Bunch of flip floppers on this site
