I think what people fail to realize is that Texas State is actually a pretty good team. They would probably challenge for the Mountain West title and in all honesty probably win it since they can play defense. Our conference sucks, have you not watched any of the other teams play? If we play well we will beat every single team in the conference, we just need to learn to get up for every game, and that comes from experience that a loss like this provides. We will still win 8 games this year and be right there in the end for the conference.
The MWC is bad this year, no argument from me, and Texas State is a good football team (better than us anyway), but you are simply wrong about their potential finish in the MWC.
Comparative scores can only tell us so much, but here is a quick one for you:
Texas State Vs. Southern Miss - W 22-15 (Note: TxSt was outgained significantly in this game)
Boise State Vs. Southern MIss - W 60-7
Now, does that mean that BSU is 67 points better than the Pokes? Probably not, but it's not a good sign in regards to our ability to compete with the top teams in the league.
In fact, isn't that the most distressing thing about our current status (last year and into this year)? The MWC has declined dramatically from the group that Joe Glenn faced and ended up with 5-7, 4-8 type seasons and yet he were are still going 4-8.
