Cowboys land transfer QB from Indiana

His sophomore year had good yards and 60% completion rate, but his TD to INT ratio was pretty bad. His junior year he played in 3 games and didn't do much of anything. Was an academic All Big 10, at least.

Is it just me or are we scraping the barrel at this point. We are throwing 10 mediocre qbs against a wall and see if any stick.
 
He was a junior in 2013 pretty sure he will have to sit out this year.

His brother is Chase Coffman who was a tight end at Mizzou for Christensen. CDC recruited this kid while at UW. I think he is eligible next season.
 
This option is infinitely better than Pete Thomas. Unless the kid from Florida is the real deal, I expect this to be our starter next year.

Should not be a real shocker though. UW hasn't exactly proven to be QB U. this last decade. Losing Smith hurts.....and losing Thompson didn't help. I expect Bohl to find "his" QB at the high school level this 2015 class.

How many MW schools would be fucked sideways if their 1st AND 2nd string QBs left? Almost all I'd guess.

Well he started for a BIG school two years ago and set school passing records. Yea I know it was indiana but playing at a BIG school for two years is far from a JUCO transfer

His 2012 stats aren't all that bad....and to keep things in context....Wyoming's best option at QB right now is a QB whose only start resulted in a loss to an FCS school. Coffman is not Brett Smith, but he's got a better resume than Colby.

Can he play right away?

Worrying about how many scholarships UW has given out is like worrying about whether we have 25 pennies in our pocket or 50 pennies, because they can always be changed into a different coin. Scholarship allotments can and do change on a regular basis. It is not unusual for a QB to move to another position (i.e. - Stratton). I really feel that Spring Ball this year was simply an open audition at the QB position, and in a way, "throwing everything against the wall and see what sticks" is a good way of describing it.

The problem is, is that virtually everything slid off the wall and there was very little remaining. I made the comment that we should look for Bohl to bring in another QB before Fall Camp and this appears to be the guy. My only mild surprise is that it appears (if the article is correct) that he won't be eligible next year as it was reported that he would have to transfer to an FCS school to be immediately eligible which he isn't doing. The story states that he has a redshirt year remaining and his senior year, so it appears that he will have to sit out a year.

It still looks like Kirkegaard is still the starter going into Fall Camp, with maybe one of the freshmen stepping in and possibly winning the position in Fall Camp. I have no doubt that Wyoming will be greatly written down in the preseason reports due to the lack of experience and talent returning at the QB position. I am excited about our defense but in all candor we need to honestly look at next season as being one with growing pains and having low expectations. If we win, then it is icing on the cake. However, if on the other hand they lose more than we hope or want, not to worry about going near high cliffs or sharp objects and just look toward the future.
 
Vorel: Former Indiana QB Cameron Coffman transferring to Wyoming

Craig Bohl may have found his man.

Former Indiana quarterback Cameron Coffman confirmed to the Star-Tribune Friday morning that he will transfer to Wyoming. He previously announced the transfer on his Twitter account.

"Excited to announce that I will be going to Wyoming. Blessed to have another opportunity," Coffman tweeted.

Coffman -- a 6-foot-2, 205-pound senior from Peculiar, Mo. -- played scarcely last season in a back up role, completing 2 of 9 passes for 29 yards and an interception. He lost the starting gig after starring as a sophomore in 2012, throwing for 2,734 yards -- second in the Big Ten -- with 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions

I wasn't real worried about it, I was just wondering. My count was somewhere around 5.

I think we are a 3 year project at minimum. I don't expect much until the 4th year. With that said, the MWC is a terrible football conference, so that alone should mean we can be competitive for middle of the pack even if aren't fully a "Bohl" team yet.

I agree with much you are saying but I am hoping to see results in Bohl's third year.

My count for QB's for next year would be 7 on scholarship.

Sam Stratton - SR.
Tommy Thornton - SO.
Aaron Young - SO.
Colby Kirkegaard - SR.
Auston Fort - FR.
Nick Smith - FR.
Cameron Coffman - RSR.

I wouldn't be surprised and as a matter of fact I would expect to see Bohl sign at least one Freshman QB in this next class.

What we are seeing is when a new coaching staff comes in and changes the type of offense that the program runs....a number of guys at one position that have talent, but also deficiencies that make it so they are not top QB's in the new offense. I also wouldn't be surprised to see maybe one of the QB's in the program now transfer to a JC some where, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a QB moved to another position next year......I don't have any inside info if anyone is wondering, but I am just making guesses based upon how many guys we have at one position and there are just so many footballs to throw around and just so many snaps that can be given in the QB battle.

I could ask you a similar question, do you actually take the Brown and Gold glasses off and realistically look at the football program? Do you actually read my post thoroughly as well?

Just trying to be realistic. If you had been a Poke fan as long as I have (well over 30 years now) you would know that we have been disappointed way more than we have had our expectations realized. I have mentioned on more than a few times that I am excited about the defense for next year, but will this carry us to the top of the conference? Without a quality QB I just don't see the wins, and please don't try to blow in my ear that Wyoming has a quality QB, and please don't try to BS me with, Wyoming doesn't need anyone at QB other than someone that isn't going to make mistakes.

All of the people that know the football program talk about the deficiencies at QB....you may want to ignore this issue but no one else will. I see bright things in the program, it will just take several years to realize them. Do you actually see a great season coming up next year? I say that I am realistic and you are not....so I guess we will have to agree to disagree and at the end of the season we can compare and I bet I am a lot closer to what actually happens than you.

I'm with Triple P, outside of an incredible defense that he saw and reported on at the spring game, the QBs currently on roster all resemble, by his trowth, witless, lard-bloated fat guts.

He would all together thrash you at any form of wagered stakes that were offered based on your petulant remark on unfounded optimism. He's been a fan for over 30 years and has a Master's Degree from the University of Denver. Watch it mister.
