Do you guys ever see the positive in anything? Or is it always doom and gloom?

I could ask you a similar question, do you actually take the Brown and Gold glasses off and realistically look at the football program? Do you actually read my post thoroughly as well?

Just trying to be realistic. If you had been a Poke fan as long as I have (well over 30 years now) you would know that we have been disappointed way more than we have had our expectations realized. I have mentioned on more than a few times that I am excited about the defense for next year, but will this carry us to the top of the conference? Without a quality QB I just don't see the wins, and please don't try to blow in my ear that Wyoming has a quality QB, and please don't try to BS me with, Wyoming doesn't need anyone at QB other than someone that isn't going to make mistakes.

All of the people that know the football program talk about the deficiencies at QB....you may want to ignore this issue but no one else will. I see bright things in the program, it will just take several years to realize them. Do you actually see a great season coming up next year? I say that I am realistic and you are not....so I guess we will have to agree to disagree and at the end of the season we can compare and I bet I am a lot closer to what actually happens than you.

HighPlainsDrifter, the P-P to the P is asking you a question. Did you not READ what he wrote?! As he so deftly put to words,
"Wyoming doesn't need anyone at QB other than someone that isn't going to make mistakes."

Are you some kind of slovenly fop who doesn't agree with (or just doesn't read) what he's trying to communicate? Fie upon your artless speech! Fie indeed, sir. I'm with Triple P, outside of an incredible defense that he saw and reported on at the spring game, the QBs currently on roster all resemble, by his trowth, witless, lard-bloated fat guts.

He would all together thrash you at any form of wagered stakes that were offered based on your petulant remark on unfounded optimism. He's been a fan for over 30 years and has a Master's Degree from the University of Denver. Watch it mister.

"witless, lard-bloated fat guts."

You stream a few words together and then crown yourself as some master humor and wisdom when just come out looking like a self-proclaiming fool. That argument about how all Wyoming needs with this offense is someone that doesn't make mistakes has been made by several people....just like you brain stem.

Since you must like British humor and especially Blackadder, I am sure you will get this line....."those long winter nights must fly by....." when you amuse yourself with over hyped humor. The only thing "bloated" around here is the opinion you have of your own humor.

Hey bythere......you are also someone that has way too high of an opinion of their own abilities at humor. But I did have to say that was a great photo of you with a cigarette holder in your hands..... I must admit that you chose a good comedy series to bring out, but past that you must think that you are so witty....stealing other's humor is rather cheap and shows a real lack imagination on your part.

The pathetic argument that others have made like yourself of ..."all we need at QB is someone that doesn't need to make plays just not make mistakes"....makes you look like a fool, and one that would span the ages.

I don't know why you seem to be angry with me. We're in this together.

I am, without a doubt, your biggest fan. You and me against the world of myopic, small minded happy high optimists who don't know as much as us about anything.

We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of the dreams.

I think Bohl is a great hire and I hope his vision translates to success. The reality is that in most programs when drastically changing philosophies, it takes a recruiting class or two to get the ship going. At WYO, we aren't in the spot to grab the best recruits and will have to rely on coaching to get where players need to be.

Thus, I'm thinking a recruiting class or two at minimum with a year or two of coaching. Nonetheless, we should see good improvement until then. The MWC is overall a weak football conference, so even some improvement should make us competitive in the middle tier.

Shit, if this happened Burman could pay himself a nice little end of the year bonus - ALL of his goals would be met!

Just to get this on the record- I don't sock-puppet...

If this kid shows any productivity on the field that might elevate us into the upper third of the MWC, I'm sure Burman will intervene post-haste...

I asked him directly about playing right away or sitting a year:

@coffman245: @kdwright5407 I'll have to sit a year. Thank you

Thanks for asking.....interesting. One year to play...but has to sit a year. Either the program has lots of scholarship room or somebody is leaving.

I have no idea about the history between you two, but it was, in actuality, pretty funny.

OR.....the program is desperate for real QB talent.

2 (Stratton & Kirkegaard) of the 6 guys will be gone after next season. I have no info but personally I would be surprised if both Thornton & Young return for 2015 at the QB position. I say this because Young is 4th on the depth chart and Thornton doesn't match up best with a Pro Style offense IMO. Wyoming has two talented freshmen QB's (Fort & Smith) coming in next year and probably one or both of them will redshirt (this was mentioned in a post on the other site by Tracy). I would also expect to see Bohl and his staff sign at least 1 high school QB in this next class. My take is that some of the QB's might end up switching positions so they can get playing time. This whole process is about getting solid QB talent in the different classes at Wyoming, because frankly after Thompson and Smith left, it left us with pretty much of an empty cupboard, especially when looking at the type of offense that Bohl is wanting to run.

If you really look at our QB position, we have 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores and 2 seniors for 2014. The seniors naturally will be gone after 2014 so that would leave 2 freshmen that probably redshirt and 2 rising juniors for 2015, neither of which have mastered the offense. It only makes sense then to have an experienced senior transfer like Cameron Coffman competing in 2015. So looking beyond 2014 to 2015 we would have (I am guessing) 1 freshman QB (from this coming class), 2 freshman redshirt QB's, 1 Junior QB (I am assuming that one will either switch positions or transfer) and 1 redshirt senior QB. Wyoming will have a much more balanced and talented QB position IMO in 2015 than we will have in 2014.

Think about this as well. Coffman comes in this summer, and he is here for Fall Camp. He will be running the offense in practice for Fall Camp (even though he won't be running with the first team) and he will be able to practice all fall with the team and will be standing on the sidelines during games seeing what is being called and becoming very familiar with the offense and the play book. By the time the next Spring practice comes about he will definitely be ready IMO to run the offense and be ready to play in 2015.

Yep its too bad he only gets one and has to sit one, but you do it because he is instantly the most game ready QB on the roster, and he evens out the classes a little bit. It's a good pick up.
