From an article in the local paper about Northwest College and Chris Boucher:... indicates he has narrowed his choices to six schools (from 15). They are Wyoming, Texas Christian, Texas Tech, Oregon State, Washington State and Minnesota.
Wyoming has been good to him during his year in the state and Cowboys coach Larry Shyatt made the trek from Laramie last week to pitch him. Boucher knows the Cowboys who had their best season in years qualifying for the NCAA tournament, lose several seniors including center Larry Nance Jr., and seem to have a vacancy for a player like him. Coaches are clamoring for his autograph on a letter of intent, but Boucher is taking his time. "Everyone's got their own place that is good for different reasons," Boucher said. "I have to make the right decision because that's where I am going to live for the next two years. For sure I am going to be one of the late ones (committing). "But they are all good options."
 
All right! This sounds promising. Come to Wyo, Chris Boucher! There's some major talent coming in and you could be part of something special. The state's already in a frenzy over UW hoops and it'll keep rolling into next season and the next.
 
Out of those 6 schools, TCU hasn't sniffed the Big Dance since 1998, and Oregon State since 1990. Texas Tech was in the mix while Bob Knight was coach, but after he left they have pretty much fallen off the map. Washington State made the tourney in 2007 and 2008.

If he wants to go to a higher profile school and a much bigger pond, then Minnesota would probably be his best choice (made the Dance 4 times in the last 10 years). If he wants to be the literal big man on campus and make an immediate impact, then Wyoming is by far his best choice. While I think he'll be hugely successful no matter where he ends up, I believe he could rule the MWC for the next two years. The Big 10 or PAC 12, not so much.

More from the article: The long armed Boucher who can shoot 3 point jumpers like a guard and possess remarkable agility, averaged 22.5 points and was named late last week the National JC basketball player of the year. Boucher shot 58 per cent from the floor, grabbed 11.8 rebounds a game, and blocked 4.7 shots per game.
 
6'10", 200-205 lbs, 44.4% from 3 point range, 75.8 % free throws. Rated a 4 star by some. Sort of thin. Really nice shooting form for only playing about 4 years.

Evidently left New Mexico Junior College for Powell because he was under-used.

Yeah, if anything, I think his only real knock his how skinny he is. But time in the weight room will fix that.
 
Oregon State is in the running? Tinkle must have been on to this kid for a while.

Beavers have a Top 25 recruiting class coming in, loaded with 4* players, and return a LOT of players. No way should he come to Corvallis.

Dude... go to Wyoming. Actually, STAY in Wyoming. You can replace Nance and start from Day 1.

TCU? Lame. Oregon State? No room. Wazzu? Not really a hoops school. Tech? Do you like New Mexico?

This should come down to Minnesota and Wyoming. Come on Shyatt. Get this dude.
 
6'10", kind of thin, can shoot from 3, seems a little Herndon-esqe ... regardless, gotta get this kid. Mr. Chris Boucher, it is all about fit. And best fit is right here in the State of Wyoming with Papa Shy. Let's keep this thing rolling. Cmon on board Chris, and go Pokes.
 
Great numbers! Extremely happy that he's a big that make free throws! Shooting the trey is all well and good, but I want freebies made and a guy who can bang down low. He seems very versatile on the D side with steals and blocks.
But, what will those numbers translate to in D1 play playing tougher comp? If he could Come in and avg 12 ppg and 9 rpg and 1+ blocks per game would be beneficial. Anything above that would be great.
His size kind of concerns me at this level. He's taller that Herndon and weighs less, so how does that translate against bigger and more athletic comp aswell? Regardless, I think he would be a great get of us and could help right away, aswell as help our depth. Go get'em Shy! I know you can coach this guy up better than anybody.

I am not going to get too excited as there is a lot of competition for his services, but in terms of determining what will translate against a higher level of competition, the blocks and rebounds are very impressive. That's indicative of a player that gets off the floor quickly and is probably superior athletically to the competition (which a future MWC caliber player should be while playing at any JC level, but definitely in Region IX).

NJCAA Player of the Year is a very impressive honor. Here are the last five recipients:

2010: Jae Crowder (Howard College) - Signed with Marquette. Was Big East POY and 2nd team All-American by his senior season and was a very early 2nd round pick in the NBA draft.
2011: Pierre Jackson (CSI) - Signed with Baylor. Was 2nd team All Big 12 both years at Baylor and an early 2nd round NBA draft pick.
2012: Marshall Henderson (South Plains) - Signed with Ole Miss. Was 2nd team All-SEC both years. Unanimous selection on the All-A-hole team both years as well (ok, I made that up).
2013: Chris Jones (NW Florida) - Signed with Louisville. Obviously notable for his off court issue, but on the court was a major player for a Top 15/20 team.
2014: Kadeem Allen (Hutchinson) - Signed with Arizona. Redshirted this year, but is in the plans for next year. Signing with a Top 5 program is pretty impressive.
 
Fingers crossed. Would be a great addition for not only getting the JUCO Player of the Year, but to balance out the classes a little bit better. And the dude can play....would start for most teams.

Coming out of high school Chris Boucher was the #1 rated power forward in Canada which would usually get him to a big school but for whatever reason he had to go the JC route first. This would be a huge get. I guess the good news is he has already been living in Wyoming so he has some familiarity with it and doesn't have to wonder as much about the unknown.

Anyways good luck to him whichever way he decides but i'm really hoping he picks Wyoming . :D
 
OMG. If/when shyatt is able to sign Chris Boucher, it completely changes the outlook of next season. We go from a team riding high looking to sustain success while rebuilding to a team that reloads (with arguably more talent but less experience at every position) and will be a team mentioned to win the conference. The importance of a player like Boucher to Wyoming cannot be understated. A player like him and were looking at the potential for our first regular season conference title, another tourney title, and another NCAA berth! While we can never replace a guy like Larry Nance for what he meant to our state and our school, filling in for him with the JUCO player of the year is a great move. C'mon Chris!!!! Let's go Dancing!!!

Then finding out Marshall is ranked highly as a juco player is changing my perception of next year as well.

It may not be Josh Adams and 4 others.

This lineup could have serious experience, and talent, starting in the lineup.
Which would be a great thing for our depth.

McManamen and Herndon are no locks to start, so that means the competition for all the starting spots are going to be fierce.

God we need this kid.

I was thinking about that as well since they have played together but we would have to offer him to walk on for next year with the possibility of a scholarship the year after since we don't have any available scholarships left.
