BYU is an Independent, rest of sports in WCC

Heard about it on radio.
Read about it on ponyfans.com.
Some are questioning things like "Are they really going independent with a great tv deal worked out?"
"Are they really waiting to be invited to join the Big 12?"

"Are Houston, SMU, Texas-El Paso now going to get invites to MWC?"

I think a lot of Ponies on the Hilltop don't want to be in a western conference again, like the MWC.
Most comments I'm reading say that they prefer to stay to something more regional to the Dallas area.

I don't like BYU sports so I don't want it to work out for them BUT apparently they have so many LDS-ers who would watch on tv (I've heard 50 million) that they have a lot of power that way in order to make independence work out for them.
I've heard that they like the faith based WCC.

Can you tell me with out looking at your channel guide what channel Zoob-TV is on?
Uh, I think it comes right before the Playboy channel.

I live in Utah and had no clue that channel existed until earlier this year.

Here's what their new viewers have to look forward to:

No. I haven't been home for a while. I'm returning soon. I've been trying to keep up with things online.
I don't know that I've ever seen a sports channel for BYU. And I don't have any interest in it.

Byu will not have enough people to watch them on their network. There are only 13 million mormons world wide and only about six in the united states. They will get paid more money for espn but will have to play on thursday and wed. BYU is not Notre Dame this isn't gonna work well for them.

Oh. I thought I heard Trevor Matich say 50 Million homes had BYU tv.
I know he's a former BYU player.

And out of those 6 million, maybe, MAYBE half actually root for BYU. The rest either don't care, or are a fan of another school (like the LDS in Western Wyoming. They view BYU as Wyoming's main rival, but they don't actually root for the Yners).

May be in a bunch of homes, but it doesn't mean people will actually watch it.

This is the best news I've had all week, all month, and maybe all year. I can't tell you how excited I am to not have to deal with these whiney, self-righteous, pompous, holier than thou pricks. We don't need them in the conference, and I'm not sorry to see them go. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

All I ask is two things:
1) At the next MWC meeting, all schools need to agree to never schedule BYU in any sport.
2) Please, please, please... for all that is good and holy, please let BYU go 0-8 in the conference this year. If not 0-8, at least let UW beat the crap out of them... one last time.

Last question though, who does the conference add now to get to 12, improve BCS standing, and (hopefully) not lose anything in the race to AQ status. I say Houston and SMU or Rice. I'd rather see Kansas and K-State, but I realize that probably won't happen.

GO POKES!

My understanding from most of the fan's comments at SMOO is that they don't want to move from C-USA unless it is to an AQ conference.

I'd say take Kansas and K ST. if you want them BUT that state doesn't have enough recruits to support FBS football.

Well, from the sounds of it, the Pokes and Air Force won't (Burman said FU BYU and AFA plays Navy, Army, and an FCS school), so that is two. I can't imagine BSU would be thrilled about them either (though they already have some OOC lined up). The rest I can't imagine are too crazy about the Yners either.

I think I would rather see the Kansas schools as well (and damned be my annoying cousin, rivals the Yners in his obnoxiousness), but I think the MWC may stay at 10 for now. Could be wrong, but that is what it sounds like.

My home has access to BYU TV, but there's no way I'd be watching it, and I'd almost pay to remove it from the channel listing.

BYU is that delusional to think they are better off independent. They are NOT Notre Dame and will never be treated as such financially or by the BCS. I doubt they will be able to put together a schedule worth a crap any longer anyway.

This is one of the funniest forums I've seen. So you're glad BYU is gone from the conference - maybe you should get out of the barn every once in a while and realize that it's schools like Wyoming is keeping the MWC from becoming an AQ conference and a main reason why we are leaving. Seriously, you can barely keep a team on the field.

We've enjoyed kicking the crap out of you over the years. It's always been a nice little scrimmage. Now that you don't have BYU in your conference to give you free money you might want to expand the kettle corn stand at the stadium.

Oh, and one last thing. If we ever do have an opening on our schedule and want to invite you to play with us - you will play because we'll through you some cash. You know, that green stuff that we kept bringing to the conference only to hand out to all the bottom dwellers of the MWC.

Giddy up!

Woop-dy-fucking-doo. More BYnerU arrogance. Why can't you assholes take more lessons from guys like Lavell Edwards (who, you know, actually taught BYU what football was for) who is a very classy guy or Bronco Mendenhall, your current HC? A guy who has not badmouthed other institutions.

And need I remind you, you delusional arrogant prick, that before Edwards came and taught that BYnerU can actually win in football, that it was Wyoming that was driving the bus. So if you don't like what you read here, go back to one of the kitty boards or a WCC board.
