Boise State Game Sold Out, Should This Be a Big Deal?

sorry, bud, i know this is REALLy nowhere close to your point but i hafta say it anway

fort collins = 138,733
missoula = 68,876

my only gripe with laramie is the lodging, other than that it can stay just the same

I hear ya...but when else would Laramie fill "X" amount of hotel rooms? Occupancy was pathetic this last summer for most...I only now of 2 that had an increase, and all others stayed flat / declined.

Further...no way in hell FC (and the area) / Missoula (and the area) are at those population levels. You have to be more realistic with the numbers...for instance, use a 10 mile radius from each campus. That is like saying Denver's population is 610,345. We both know what that number is about.

It is what it is though, and the point is valid...69K or 138K is still a very significant difference than Laramie...like triple, quadruple, etc.
You've obviously never been to Missoula. 70,000 is a stretch. The reason summer occupancy is pathetic is because Larmaie does nothing to attract tourism. No one wants to come to a run down town on vacation. It's like going to Butte, America. Both towns could be really cool places to visit, but in both towns it seems like no one really cares what their town looks like. I understand that Laramie is an older town, but that's no reason why people can't keep it up. Seriously what's the deal with Laramie?

There is no "deal" with Laramie. It's simply a great place to live at least for what I want. I can see how many "outsiders" think it's a dump, or boring, or whatever else... But until you live here and are part of the culture you wouldn't understand. It's a simple town with down to earth people. Becoming modernized and more attractive for outsiders to come live here is not something that appeals to me. So many great small towns have been ruined by Shopping Mall and Tourist development. I moved here from another college town, Knoxville, and I could not be happier.

Laramie is one of the last D1 college towns that is still 100% a college town. I think that is awesome and I don't want that to change. Compare laramie to the rest of the schools in the mountain west and with the country and they are not true college towns( ie, Fort Collins, their basically suburb of Denver now and the students don't make up the majority of the residents like laramie.) Out of D1 programs Wyoming, Clemson, and possibly K state and Kansas are true college towns.

Note: Traditional college towns should consist of mostly of students and the main industry should be the university, which used to be the norm but has went away.

A shopping mall ruins a town??? Really? I also moved here from another college town (Bozeman) and have yet understand the "culture". The people and university are great, but the town seems to lack. Have you checked out great small college towns like Bozeman and Missoula? Bozeman has a mall, and it hasn't ruined the small town feel, the downtown is still vibrant and thriving. I'm not sure I understand your logic.

Missoula is a great college town and a great place to visit. Bozeman is not even in the same ballpark as Missoula. Any unbiased observer would agree.

And at least Rock Springs has a mall! Why can't Laramie?

Problem with the Mall in Rock Springs is there are always empty spaces where stores had to close from lack of business. I spent 17 years in that shit hole of a town I've seen so many stores in and out of both the White Mountain Mall and the Plaza Shopping Center.

However either of those may have changed more I haven't gone back in a while and have no reason to!

So on this thread alone we have learned that Laramie, Rock Springs, Cheyenne, Casper, Gillette, and Rawlins are all shitholes. Who needs BYU or CSU fans to insult us when we can do it ourselves so much better. Sheesh.

No matter how bad Rawlins and Rock Springs are, I'd rather live next door to the prison in Rawlins than anywhere in Provo.

aye

So...A sell out is only 29,014? That's gay! Put the endzone seats back in. We're losing money! We sold out 34,745 against CSU in 97 why couldn't we get that or more against Virginia, Texas (Construction, I know.) or even BSU last night?

Wildcatter seats took out about 3000 seats. Before those went in, the War, without bleachers set up, could sit a bit over 33,000. However, the Wildcatter seats cost MUCH more than a regular season ticket, so we are actually making money. And it was pretty packed in there. Hardly room enough to be standing or sitting straight forward.

Still... A sell out is less than 30k? That is stupid. If we want to be a good program do you want to tell your recruits that they'll play in front of 33k? Or, "You'll be playing in front of a sellout crowd of 29 k! But check out our new Suites!"
I have yet to see any other programs taking seating away from their stadium to make it better. 33,500 to 29,086. That is stupid. bring the seats back in.

It's to make money. And with hopefully more success on the field, and sellouts begin happening more often, then I think they would look at expanding the stadium.
