You've obviously never been to Missoula. 70,000 is a stretch. The reason summer occupancy is pathetic is because Larmaie does nothing to attract tourism. No one wants to come to a run down town on vacation. It's like going to Butte, America. Both towns could be really cool places to visit, but in both towns it seems like no one really cares what their town looks like. There is no "deal" with Laramie. It's simply a great place to live at least for what I want. I can see how many "outsiders" think it's a dump, or boring, or whatever else... But until you live here and are part of the culture you wouldn't understand. It's a simple town with down to earth people. Becoming modernized and more attractive for outsiders to come live here is not something that appeals to me. So many great small towns have been ruined by Shopping Mall and Tourist development. I moved here from another college town, Knoxville, and I could not be happier.
Laramie is one of the last D1 college towns that is still 100% a college town. I think that is awesome and I don't want that to change. Compare laramie to the rest of the schools in the mountain west and with the country and they are not true college towns( ie, Fort Collins, their basically suburb of Denver now and the students don't make up the majority of the residents like laramie.) Out of D1 programs Wyoming, Clemson, and possibly K state and Kansas are true college towns.
Note: Traditional college towns should consist of mostly of students and the main industry should be the university, which used to be the norm but has went away.

Wildcatter seats took out about 3000 seats. Before those went in, the War, without bleachers set up, could sit a bit over 33,000. However, the Wildcatter seats cost MUCH more than a regular season ticket, so we are actually making money. And it was pretty packed in there. Still... A sell out is less than 30k? That is stupid. If we want to be a good program do you want to tell your recruits that they'll play in front of 33k? Or, "You'll be playing in front of a sellout crowd of 29 k! But check out our new Suites!"
