3 Keys to the Game

1. Don't turn the ball over
2. Catch the damn ball
3. Don't give up the big play

I think you have it covered evilpoke. I'd love to see a high degree of intensity and a killer instinct, under represented attributes in recent years. This team can wreak some havoc in the Texas game if they get their act together on Saturday. Texas is a load, no doubt, of all kinds of things btw (lol, Sorry horns, I couldn't resist, j/k), but Weber State is stiff enough to help the Cowboys get ready for the challenge on the 12th.

1a. Score early. This will relieve all the pressure on the players and the worries of the fans and let the whole team relax.
1b. No turnovers. A turnover on the first possession, like so many games last year, would be crushing to our confidence.

I think one of the reasons that we're seeing so many young guys playing big minutes, is because I believe that some of the older players, bless their heart, are kind of "mentally scarred" so to say from last year. If those guys are in the game and it goes south a bit, there's probably a little part of them that can't help but think, "oh no its happening again." Whereas the younger guys have no memory of this and if things get tough for a little bit, they can just press on through.

It can be won big with only two keys;

1. Control the line of scrimmage.
2. Eliminate mistakes.

Actually, the best way to win is to score more points than they do

My 3 keys to the game:

1. Field position. Good kickoffs and coverage. As we saw last year, even a strong defense will get scored on easily if you let the other team start their drives at mid field.

2. Get pressure on their QB. Our dbs are good, but they can't keep coverage indefintely. Get pressure, make them throw quckly and that will lead to turnovers or incompletions.

3. Limit the mistakes/penalties. How many long kick returns did we have called back for holding last year? With a new offense in place, there may be some jitters and confusion.
