I still love Rocky Long. His opinion was the catch was an interception. He's entitled to that opinion and it should be expected from him, considering where he's coaching and the fans his message effects.

He said some great things about Wyoming in his weekly press conference and has a ton of respect for UW, the state, Laramie, our fan base, and our program.

I'll give Rocky a pass for his blaming the loss on poor officiating. I thought the officiating sucked too, but not just for SDSU, for everyone on the field that game.
Junky, can I ask a question of you. I personally think that was one of the worst officiated game I have seen in a long time but am trying to go back and think of a call that impacted the Cowboys positively that maybe should have been called different or flagged. I can't think of one.

Is there a play or plays that you think the Pokes got one over on the Asstecs?

So what can be done for officiating in the MWC? I was at the USU game and thought the officiating was "baaaad". I believe the MWC doesn't have great officiating, possibly the worst of any conference.

I'm too Brown and Gold to recognize any calls I though Wyoming got over on SDSU, I think they all should favor Wyoming.

I can understand how Rocky wouldn't think that though. That Hollister catch that was ripped away was a 50/50 call.

Behind Enemy Lines:

3 things we learned from SDSU's loss to Wyoming (SD Union-Tribune)

2. Wyoming’s QB impressive

If the Aztecs do end up meeting Wyoming in the league championship game on Dec. 3, they have to figure out better ways to contain Cowboys quarterback Josh Allen – if that’s possible.

Allen showed himself to be as dangerous as anticipated with his heady scrambles and strong arm. His greatest play was eluding the heavy rush and throwing a 45-yard completion to receiver Jake Maulhardt. On the next play, he found Maulhardt for a 30-yard TD that tied the game at 27.

Allen killed the Aztecs with his third-down running. He converted with his legs on six occasions, including three times in Wyoming’s final scoring drive. Most critically on that march, Allen got 2 yards on a sneak on fourth-and-1 at the SDSU 49.

Nebraska legend Tom Osborne proud of mentee Craig Bohl's success at Wyo (trib.com)

"I knew it would take some time," Osborne said. "If you look at the history book, I think Bill McCartney was at Colorado for five or six years before he had a winning season or at least went to a bowl game. Bill Snyder at K-State was about the same, was about six years.

"We live in an age when people want immediate success, and they think that one year, two years ought to be enough. It just doesn’t work that way, particularly when you start out with not a whole lot going for you.

"But most of the players that (Bohl) has there are relatively young, so I think the future’s bright."

To imply that the ref lost the game for SDSU is ridiculous... The only reason they were in the game was because the refs blatantly missed calls for the Cowboys and gave SUDS a bunch of calls. That INT in the first was the direct result of a blatant and obvious PI call they didnt flag. There were numerous face mask penalties not called against he ASStecs. That TD as time expired was NOT a TD. That ball was moving everywhere. He never maintained possession. There certainly wasnt evidence to support overturning it. IT just helped the narrative the MWC needed to push. The Asstecs didn't lose because of the refs, the Pokes won despite them.

My biggest complaint of the refs (which is also a complaint on our clock person), was the 3rd to last play of the game. On that play there was 9 seconds left and SDSU had no timeouts they spiked the ball and no time came off the clock. The refs ruled only 1 second of clock change. However, on the replay it showed 2 seconds went off on the play clock and the 3rd second went off right as the ball hit the ground on the spike. So either 2 or 3 seconds should have should have gone off the clock. Then instead of 1 second left, there would have been no time left after the next play. The last play of the game where SDSU scored would have never happened, and should not have happened.

I'm pretty sure the home team hires the clock person. I don't know how our clock person didn't run the clock on such a crucial play, nor how the refs didn't review how much play clock moved, it nearly cost us the game.

Or how about the play with what, 9 seconds left where SDSU ran a play, takes a TO then tells the ref they don't want to take a TO and NO TIME RAN OFF THE CLOCK!!! WT?!?!?

Isn't it interesting that WYO is being lead back to glory by the Devany lineage?

It's pretty cool that Devany coached here, directly mentored Dr. Tom, and we have a Dr. Tom disciple turning this program around.

Good ole' Bob still leaving his imprint on WYO football!

Unfortunately, UW won’t have senior nose tackle Chase Appleby. Bohl said he’s likely done for the season with a torn MCL in his right knee that he sustained in the first half last Saturday against San Diego State. Appleby did interviews with he media Monday and had a large brace around the knee. I could tell he was getting pretty emotional when talking about missing the rest of the season. Tough break for a great guy, and who has been a great player on the field this season.

Nulph column: A Wyoming drive to remember (WyoSports.net)

It’s funny how things work in sports.

Sometimes it’s ha-ha funny, and sometimes it’s shake your head in disbelief funny.

The latter is where I’m going.

During the last two weeks, the University of Wyoming football team has produced two of the greatest single drives in program history, given what’s been at stake.

Wyoming’s Appleby out for season with torn MCL (WyoSports.net)

“Make no mistake, Chase has been a big, big reason why our defense has been much more productive,” Bohl said. “He’s a super person in the locker room, and he’s a competitive person on the field. It’s disappointing, but those things come into play, and we want to support Chase. That’s not a loss that you go, ‘Next guy up.’”

“I heard something pop, and I knew I was done,” said Appleby, who did interviews with the media Monday wearing a large brace over his right knee.

“It’s really hard, but this team is in good hands. Hopefully I can make the trip (Saturday to New Mexico) and still be there with these guys.”
