2016 Wyoming Football Articles/Videos/Tweets

I'm very confused by the comment that odds aren't good of hosting the mwc championship.

I'm seeing conflicting reports everywhere on this. This article makes it sound like if Wyoming wind next week it's all but a slam dunk.

On ESPN 2 tonight the announcers said San Diego state was the favorite to host... which is it?

Wide receiver Johnson shines in Wyoming's upset over San Diego State (WyoSports.net)

“(San Diego State) didn’t have any safeties over the top, and right away I thought, ‘I hope (redshirt sophomore quarterback Josh Allen) throws it to me because I think I’ll be wide open,’” Johnson said.

“(Allen) said he saw me the whole way. He threw it up, and I had to go get it.”

“(Johnson has) got good talent and he’s an emerging player,” third-year UW coach Craig Bohl said. “He’s gotten stronger and he’s playing with more confidence and he plays deceptively fast and he’s got good hands.”

COLUMN: Defense deserves most of credit for Wyoming's win over San Diego State (WyoSports.net)

“It shows a lot of resolve and belief,” third-year coach Craig Bohl said. “Believe in one another and believe in what the coaches are coaching you to do. Trust your teammates and play with confidence.”

“It really comes down to how we practice and the little things we do in practice,” Cain said. “We do so many reps and we’re always going and flying around that when somebody goes down, it’s a next-man-up situation. It’s about what the next man going to do to get the job done; that’s the attitude we take.

Includes some comments on conference championship implications.......

C.J. Johnson has career day in Wyoming's win against San Diego State (trib.com)

"I was just going to go out there and have one or two catches like I usually do and help out as much as I can," Johnson said. "But we have one of the best receivers in the nation in Tanner Gentry, and they were showing a lot of double-teaming him, so it left me open quite a bit. So I just took all my opportunities and I just ran with them."

Comments from Gagliardi at the bottom about the Saturday visit from a Poinsettia Bowl Rep.......

[tweet]https://twitter.com/rpgagliardi/status/800534452531302400[/tweet]

UW also did it short-handed along the line as sophomore nose tackle Sidney Malauulu didn’t play due to a foot/ankle injury. Senior nose tackle Chase Appleby injured his right knee and didn’t return — and it sounds like the chances of him returning this season are not good. Too bad because Appleby has been arguably the Cowboys’ best defensive lineman and also one of the great guys on the team, period. UW also lost redshirt freshman defensive end Josiah Hall to an injury during the game.

Poinsettia Bowl is possibility for Wyoming (WyoSports.net)

“Wyoming is certainly in the mix,” Chalker said before the game. “But there are a lot of decisions resting on the outcome of the remaining games this season.”

“Our board members have told this story many times that back in 1988 so many fans from Wyoming came that the governor decided to go because all his constituents were there,” Chalker said.

“We are very aware of Wyoming’s strong reputation for travel – and spending money.”

To imply that the ref lost the game for SDSU is ridiculous... The only reason they were in the game was because the refs blatantly missed calls for the Cowboys and gave SUDS a bunch of calls. That INT in the first was the direct result of a blatant and obvious PI call they didnt flag. There were numerous face mask penalties not called against he ASStecs. That TD as time expired was NOT a TD. That ball was moving everywhere. He never maintained possession. There certainly wasnt evidence to support overturning it. IT just helped the narrative the MWC needed to push. The Asstecs didn't lose because of the refs, the Pokes won despite them.

Seems like coach was a little but hurt on this video. I don't care what he says there was nothing conclusive about the play he references. I rewatched the game yesterday and it had to stay as called on the field because there was no evidence to overturn it.

I still love Rocky Long. His opinion was the catch was an interception. He's entitled to that opinion and it should be expected from him, considering where he's coaching and the fans his message effects.

He said some great things about Wyoming in his weekly press conference and has a ton of respect for UW, the state, Laramie, our fan base, and our program.

I'll give Rocky a pass for his blaming the loss on poor officiating. I thought the officiating sucked too, but not just for SDSU, for everyone on the field that game.
