Someone of the other board posted that Bryce Peters has 5 or 6 days to take the offer. If he doesn't, it belongs to Hunte. Time will tell.

Greyshirting isn't a possibility in college basketball because the season spans both the fall and spring semesters.
Truly, the only sports that offer a real opportunity to greyshirt are fall sports that are completed by the time spring semester rolls around. This is why it works in college football. The recruit can delay enrollment until the spring, thereby essentially bypassing that first season in its entirety.

I have mild problems with this concept from Wyoming's perspective, but I understand it. My question is, why would either of these dudes commit if we can't even guarantee that we have a scholarship for them? If I'm Bryce Peters and I'm between, say, Wyoming and CU, and I prefer the program at Wyoming all things being equal. But Wyoming can't look me in the eye and say "we guarantee we will have a scholarship to give you" and CU can. Why would I tell Wyoming that I'm committing? Because if I do that and CU fills their scholarship elsewhere and Wyoming doesn't have any transfers or whatever, I am scrambling.
According to Holmgren, Hunte HAS NOT officially committed to Wyoming. Repeat, has not committed.NowherePoke said:Cowduck said:Look, I understand the idea that we are overrecruiting because we are expecting attrition of some sort. That won't happen though. If Peters signs a LOI with Wyoming then the staff will have a scholarship for him. I promise.
The better question is, would you want to commit to a school that anticipates attrition (and in a worst case scenario would elect not to renew another players scholarship in order to honor your LOI)? I think the reality is that transfers are so common in college basketball that over signing by one is not a big deal to most recruits as nearly every program sees players transfer at the end of each year.
The interesting one is Hunte. If reports are true, he is basically the second choice and knows it. That's unusual.

Well, my question is why commit, not why sign an LOI. But even that raises an interesting question. Early signing period is Nov. 11-18. Even if we do have attrition, it isn't likely to happen by then. You are right, he won't sign an LOI if we don't have a scholarship to give. So what happens if he commits? He waits til the spring signing period? A lot can go wrong there.
Agree 100% about the optics of being a program that expects attrition and/or recruits over people.
This. He graduates this fall and would only require one class enrollment to stay on the team. I would bet money this is the approach they're takingWyolie Coyote said:Another option is to ask McManamen to use the Hathaway and free up his scholarship. Maybe that has been discussed as a fallback plan.

I think you have to be enrolled at least part time, I don't think graduate school is required either. I remember Matt Leinart took ballet classes his senior year at USC lolDVDA said:That's interesting.
