This is good news. Now we need to find a way to get him a scholarship

That won't be a problem.

What will be a problem is that he was just offered by UNLV. Expect more high major offers coming his way as well.

Yeah if he committed to Wyoming it would be a great pick up. Guess I don't need to worry about over singing until he actually commits

Great news! I wonder who the coaches think might be "leaving" after this year..... I mean if they get him to commit the coaches must have something in the back of their mind about someone that is here this year not being here next year right? Maybe I am off base but there must be some thought process to over signing. I understand we have always lost a guy each year so it has worked out just fine but makes me think " okay if we are over signing then who are we going to lose, because I like everyone we just picked up"

Maybe someone who has to red shirt and they decide they don't want to be here anymore. Seems most of the guys we lost are guys who red shirted.

What do you guys think?
If someone leaves, I think it's a good bet it's a guard. My guess is one of Washington, Aka Gorski, Lieberman.

My bet is Washington. I don't see him climbing the ladder above Lieberman, Aka Gorski, Adams, Mac, or Conway. I don't see him liking being buried on the depth chart. I hope to hell no one leaves but if I had to pick one, it would be Trey.

If I am being honest, I actually see a scenario where Mac moves to "walk on" and uses the Hathaway. It frees up a scholarship and if I am not mistaken, he graduates this fall. It would be dirt cheap for him to pay his own way and still ball it up. I think thats the most logical scenario.

Washington will be starting this year based on the way Shyatt is talking about him and he already took a red shirt so he won't be leaving.

Not sure who it would be though.

Edit:

I should say I don't know for sure Washington will be starting but the way Shyatt talks about him leads me to believe he will. Shyatt said Washington and Adams compete as much as anyone on the team and that Washington and Adams are quick enough to recover defensively if they get beat by their guy on defense. So that and the fact this will be Washington's third year in the program and the way Shyatt develops players makes me think he is going to start. I don't see him leaving though since he already took a red shirt.

I agree. I see big things from TW3 this year. He is in his 3rd year in the program and with the staffs ability to develope players I expect him to start and be a major contributer this year. Better athlete than AKA or Lieberman if undersized.

+1. Shyatt has not shied away from playing small guards so even though Adams/TW3 would be a small backcourt I see that as our starting guards.

I don't really like to speculate about who might leave as I don't think anybody intends to depart early right now. By about January though, we might have a pretty good idea if someone is in the doghouse or not getting the role they might have anticipated.

I can't see why any recruit would want to go to UNLV at this point. It seems like a clown show of a program

Exfuckingzactly.

If you want to finish college almost as good as the first day they recruited you, Dave Rice is your man. If you want to develop, go somewhere else.

Nevada and Fresno don't have near the history. They don't have a giant pile of new facilities either.

UNLV has the facilities/history at the cost of an ass clown for a head coach.

I like our chances with Bryce.

Some updates to our 2016 recruiting targets:

1. Yoeli Childs - Childs has narrowed his list to 5 and we did not make the cut.

2. Bryce Peters - As noted in the other thread, he has listed a final 6 (CU, Fresno, Tulsa, GCU, UNLV, and Wyoming)

3. Irshad (Iggy) Hunte - I don't remember if this was noted elsewhere, but we have offered the 6'7" 195lb PF out of San Juan Capistrano, CA. He also holds offers from Fairfield,JMU, Montana, and Utah State (the latter two from a recent Rivals article, not shown elsewhere). Here is more info:

Verbal Commits: http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/irshad-hunte

ESPN: http://insider.espn.go.com/college-...ng/player/evaluation/_/id/176549/irshad-hunte

I haven't seen any confirmation, but I believe we are out of the running for Alpha Diallo (not sure he would be in our plans anyway with Mueller already committed at that position, but Diallo is blowing up and will end up with a large number of high major offers and probably play at a Prep School this year).

Not sure if we are still in the mix for Dontay Bassett or not. He has taken recent unofficial visits to St. Mary's and Nevada and holds a number of offers (UW, VT, Nevada, Murray St., FIU, Tulsa, etc.). Haven't heard much in a while regarding UW in his recruitment, but we were on him early and we obviously have ties with two of his prep school teammates (James, Moemeka) on the roster.

I want to know what kind of shenanigans Grand Canyon university is up to
Publicly owned, for-profit university. Maybe they offer their scholarship athletes stock options? haha

3 star PF Irshad Hunte is visiting Laramie.

Wonder what this does for Bryce Peters...

I would think it pretty much knocks him out of consideration. I don't think they would over sign by two players. Unless they known something that hasn't gotten out yet.
