I suppose they slide Brownlee to CB based on his size and speed.
Honestly, for a D2 guy that is elite. Probably one of the fastest guys in his entire MIAA conference.I read on Hudl Brownlee's speed is 4.5. Not exactly overwhelming
Beavers came out of HS as a LB and played both LB and Safety at USC but mainly was used as a Safety. However, if you go to the list of signees by the official UW football program from the Transfer Portal he is listed as being a LB.Franklin - Jacksonville State

They did sign 2 CBs and have 2-3 on roster already. The Deen kid and the JUCO AA from Snow CollegeI believe we have actually signed 4 safeties in the portal. This fully tracks with the level of head coaching I’ve seen from Sawvel over the past couple of years. Lose 2 young starting CBs, just go ahead and sign 4 safeties just because.
We’re going to rely on that exotic running attack apparentlyI agree with what you are saying, especially about the WR position. Since the season ended, we have lost a lot more in the way of experience from the WR position than what we have brought in from the Portal. So far, we have signed 3 HS guys and 1 WR from a very small school, not exactly giving me a lot of comfort.
I feel a little better at the RB position because I feel that Harris is top quality RB, and we have added a 1,000 yard RB from the Portal.
Per a story by Cody on the Popovich kid, the coaches were high on him, and he states that he was a "late bloomer". Popovich in the interview stated that the coaches said that they have big plans for him. Expect to hear of Hughes to Popovich pass completion this fall.Beavers was announced as a LB
I agree though CB is still a pretty big concern for me but they have done well in developing them in the past so I guess we need to trust which I know is hard to do.
On offense I think WR quality and size and RB depth are a huge concern but I think the new OC will get more out of our WR group with scheme alone.
And had few (perhaps no FBS) offers with a blown out knee. I’m rooting for the guy but we have to be honest with who we got on paper.Looks like the Pokes picked up a running back out of West Virginia. Not a great average, but he led the Mountaineers in rushing last season.
There is no spring portal period anymore. Only players available after spring are grad transfers or HS freshmen still unsigned or a portal entree from winter who was never signed (probably not a difference maker there).WR will be a post spring practice signee
Huh? Maybe I’m not following what you are stating. Wyoming has never allowed a player who has entered the portal to continue practicing with the team to my knowledge. That would be absolutely crazy just from a liability standpoint.. Wyoming has had players in the portal that were still competing in the spring practices to get film.
Tyler Jacklich was one of those players. Sawvel allowed him to practice and play through the spring scrimmage to get tape. He transferred to San Diego State, or that was planned, and it did not work out. He ended up at JUCO and signed with WVUHuh? Maybe I’m not following what you are stating. Pregnon practiced in the spring but apparently had his agent talking to other teams during spring practice. As soon as he entered the portal, his locker was cleaned out.
