How RETARDED is Sawvel???? How can you not have changed QBs by now?

How could have Burman hired someone so retarded?

How can we have an offense THIS bad??

How can our Defense have regressed so much?

1913: 0-5
1923: 0-8
1939: 0-7
2024: 0-12 ?

Do we have a winless season for just the 4th time in our history and the first time in 85 years? I'm finding it hard to bet against that now. It's looking more and more likely

At this rate we will not win a game. We have the worst QB in the history of football.

The truly sad part is Sawvel inherited a pretty good group of players. And, what should have been an experienced D. I don’t understand it.

That’s the main reason he was hired, right? To keep the band together and limit transfers. They did. And we are crap.
The inexperience on the coaching staff is obvious. That's on Burman and I'll argue, though unpopular, nepotism.

It's a karma season, imo.

Yep….. we certainly are.

But, we can look forward to Sawvel saying. We got to do better. The coaches have to do better. I have to be better. The players have to be better. And repeat the next Monday. When will they be better.

It ain’t gonna be with Svo-“bada”.

For me, it's not that your take is unpopular. It's not even that I think you're wrong. It's that you have repeated the same thing over and over and over and over. It is annoying, we get it.

One guy disagrees with you and you rehash your argument with him just as much as you repeat your take.

Let it go (at least as far as WN posts go). Not only for your own sanity, but for all of ours as well.

Fair enough and will do. I'm still using PBJ though 🤣.

1 - Being the CB protege, the long term plan implemented in December 2021 brought us the new #17:

2 - Burman must have thought he was playing it careful and sustaining the status quo of producing 6+ wins per season.

3 - When was the last time the offense was actually good? 2016 is the answer. Prior to that it was during the Christensen era although the defense was as equally bad for Christensen as the offense has been bad for years now. If it wasn't that Peasley dropped into equation at Wyoming we would have been watching the kid from Nebraska who was handpicked to be the next QB although he had something like a 30% completion rate in high school. Yes - the guy that Bohl moved to defense, transferred to Nebraska and appears to no longer be on the roster there. Bohl refused to pursue a QB with proven ability instead preferring to "bring them along". That is the plan for Svoboda who happens to be in his 4th year post high school. By the way, in 2024 the Wyoming offense is the least productive in all of the FBS. For entertainment purposes reread this UW propaganda piece on the "explosive offense" Sawvel has planned since last spring.

4 - The defense. Could it be something related to "PBJ" if I have the terminology correct?

I will repeat this from a previous post I made: At the ASU football game I somehow found my seat surrounded by a number of former UW football players. One of the players turned to the others and said "These guys are soft. The problem is Gordie Haug and recruiting." I can only take from someone who has been involved with recruiting at Wyoming and correlate that to the product on the field. I understand that in the NIL market Wyoming is not going to get the premium players as compared to how easily some programs may get those players, but when you see talent at FCS schools exceeding the talent that has been developing at Wyoming for 3 years it really calls into question the leadership within the program and their ability to truly assess talent. If anyone watched Utah State yesterday they will notice there is a 33 year old interim head coach (not a retread) that has his team playing at a level which makes this former Wyoming fan jealous with many of the players starting coming from the transfer portal. It seems as though the leadership at Utah State emphasizes the pursuit of victory while in the past decade (actually longer than that) the Wyoming leadership celebrates mediocrity.

I can’t find a single position group that is doing anything right.

Secondary is lost and chasing ghosts. The TD in the second half where their WR caught the ball on the goal line? Our DB had no clue what was going on.

OL is the worst I’ve seen in recent memory. Can’t snap. Can’t run block. Can’t pass block. The OL is the biggest disappointment of all player groups. They are a bunch of marshmallows.

WR can’t get separation. Never have under Grant. He’s so terrible.

DL is trying but cannot get pressure and can’t stop the run. Our LB corps and safeties are making way way too many tackles, when they can wrap a guy up. We miss Oscar.

Our RB group is serviceable but doesn’t have a burst when they need it. The OL doesn’t help.

QB is terrible. BYU should’ve had 3 more interceptions. Throws bad balls. Can’t read a defense. Throws into double and triple coverage. Yuck.

Special teams? Kickoff return out of the half is inexcusable. Punts aren’t turning over. FG are fine, but we are always so far behind, Hoyland doesn’t get to kick.

We are not tough. Clearly we’ve regressed in the weight room that we spent tens of millions to build. We are not resilient. We are undisciplined.

Tripodi, Grant, Johnson, Boyd, Moore, Bohl, Petrino…the whole staff…overmatched and incapable. We are not coached well at all. And Haug has no business recruiting a kid to play hopscotch -no less football. Seems clear that Vigen, Bohl, and Polasek were the true talent evaluators.

There are almost too many things to list that are wrong with this Wyoming team. When you see every single position group performing terribly, that is almost always a head coach problem.

I know the die hard fans have that tendency to hold out hope. Sometimes there are fixable problems that, if fixed, really turns the team around. That is not the case with this team. There is something systemically wrong at the highest level.

If you’re hoping for some wins, or even just some improvement, you are going to torture yourself watching this team. They are not going to get better. You can plug in whatever players or scheme you like and this is still going to be a 0 or 1 win team.

This was another game I did not watch. I hate to drop my support for the team so quickly, but this team is actually painful to watch. Only game I did watch was the ASU game - that was enough for me to know how bad this season was going to be. This team is an utter embarrassment to the state of Wyoming.

We scored 7 points against probably the third stringers of ASU, we did get a first half score in this game, but the only other score we had was against the backups of BYU, and as we all know we lost to an FCS team.

It looks to me like the talent level across the board on this team is maybe equal to second and third stringers of other teams, and I say maybe equal because we still struggled to score on those backups.

It tells me there's probably not one player who would start on basically any of the other FBS teams across the nation. Or maybe there's one or two but collectively we definitely don't have talent that would start anywhere else

This is all on the coaching. They are not prepared. They don’t have a game plan. They don’t understand how to cast their talent properly, evaluate who is doing what and in what order. The team has no gel. How else do you give up a kick return? If you know your coverage is that bad and the players aren’t ready to stop the return, you kick it out of the end zone. It’s been dangerous a few times this year. Hell kick it out of the end zone and work on it in practices. Maybe it will gel by next years season opener.

I do not get any positive feeling from our RB group. I would if Waylee and McNeely were full strength. The last 2 RB recruits from the transfer portal are diminutive and knock no one over in an offense not really designed to do anything other than run straight into a DL or LB. Wyoming is currently 120th of 134 FBS teams in rushing proficiency and only 1 yard better than 134th of 134 FBS teams in total offense. Even Albany which is a 1-2 FCS team put up 350 yards at Idaho whereas Wyoming hit a season high of 270 on the home field.

Haug and hopscotch - that is funny!!! I think we also better add Candyland to the list of strategic talent required games.

Anyone see the new trend in college football is hiring the equivalent of a general manager who evaluates the programs needs and who to target in the recruiting process? Gordie is no Wyoming version of a Billy Beane and I severely question if there will ever be an attempt to bring some semblance of offense back to Laramie until Burman and 100% of the current staff are no longer employed. If Wyoming wants to be a rush dominant team with minimal reliance of passing than be top 25 nationally good instead of in the bottom 10% of also rans.

If that’s the case, then Bohl is the greatest coach alive. He took basically this same group to a 9-4 record last season.

Albany putting up more yards on Idaho than us is one of the more disgusting things I’ve ever read

With the collapse of our football team, bball in the garbage can, and the realignment BS. I’m not sure I can remember a more depressing time to be a UW fan.

How can Burman continually fuck things up, and continue to be employed? The fact that he feels he has no responsibility to address any fan/donor concerns publicly adds to his ineptitude.

Remember when he publicly addressed the issues with the coaching and complete team transfer in bball? No? Yeah me either. Wasn’t his interview regarding realignment so refreshing and comforting? No?

Guaranteed he’s going to be radio silent on this complete botchery of a hire and handling of the post-Bohl era.

We need to start with Tommy boy and bring in a new AD that can clean house in FB, position us better for more realignment, be open and transparent with the donors/supporters that keep the department afloat, and maybe get this train wreck back on track.

Jeff Pivic anyone? He seemed to play dipshit Tom like a fiddle in the PAC 12 collaborations.
