Carl Granderson finally broke out of his slump and put his stamp on the NFC South race. The former University of Wyoming defensive end was a menace in New Orleans’ 24-20 upset win at division-leading Tampa Bay.
Granderson stuffed the stat sheet, boasting five tackles, two tackles for loss and one pass defended. For the season, he’s made 43 tackles, 4.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, three passes defended and six quarterback hits for 3-10 New Orleans.
The Saints host Carolina in Week 15.

Today was certainly a day for Cowboy Wrestling. Big-time wins and some weird losses highlighted the day that saw three Cowboys into the Semi-Finals: Luke Willochel, Joey Novak, and Christian Carroll; one in the Consi bracket: Eddie Neitenbach.
Best of Day 1
This belongs to Luke Willochel and Christian Carroll. Luke came out and upset the #15 (Cardinale) and #13 (Spidle) wrestlers on his way to the semis. Branch stated, “The good thing about Luke is nobody knows what he does because he is an instinct wrester.” That probably comes from having an older brother on the team and all those years of competing for the last dinner roll at Thanksgiving. I am sure Gabe is proud of his brother.

A week after Josh Allen was honored at the University of Wyoming with a jersey retirement ceremony, he set yet another NFL record. As a quarterback, he rushed for his 76th career touchdown, passing a record that was once held by Cam Newton in Buffalo’s 26-7 victory at Pittsburgh.
Allen was also 15-for-23 for 123 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He added 38 rushing yards on eight carries and the one score.
For the season, Allen is 243-for-350 for 2,832 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s added 78 carries totaling 409 yards with 10 scores.
The Bills host Cincinnati in Week 14.

Wyoming has played 8 games that count so far, and sit at a very respectable 6-2. The biggest takeaway I've got to this point is that improvement is IMMEDIATE on this year's squad. If the staff sees something they don't like, they jump all over it and it's fixed by the next game. Here are my thoughts up to this point:
Leland Walker is a star. The latest MW Player of the Week had a slow start to the season, likely due to this being an almost entirely new team. Those early struggles were to be expected while these guys learn to play together. Since then he's been the breakout star of the team. He doesn't NEED to be the main scorer every game like Obi did last year, but he's certainly welcomed the challenge. In the last 5 games he's put up...

Andrew Wingard has stepped forward as the spearhead of Jacksonville’s defensive effort lately. The former University of Wyoming Cowboy has led the team in tackles each of the last three games, the most recent of which was a 10-tackle effort in a 27-24 overtime victory at Arizona on Sunday.
For the season, Wingard owns 69 tackles, which ranks 56th in the league. He’s added one tackle for loss, one interception, six passes defended and one quarterback hit for 7-4 Jacksonville.
The Jaguars travel to Tennessee in Week 13.

After the NDI duals Wyoming had to turn around and head out to Riverside, CA to face an up and coming Cal Baptist (CBU) team. I really thought Wyoming had a shot at shutting out them out but we saw some inconstancies and guys unable to close out matches. Wyoming would pull away late with a 28-12 victory with murders row (84-HWT) scoring 16 points all in the first period.

Sefton Douglass continues to wrestle well; he gave up a takedown on his own shot but immediately turned into Cooper Shore and secure the pin. His confidence must be growing. Luke Willochel made his debut at 133 against a ranked wrestler. He was up 15-3 but just kind of stopped and escaped with a 17-13 win. It was his debut so a good experience for Luke...

Frank Crum didn’t play much Sunday for Denver. But the 12 snaps in which he did participate, he made his impact felt.
The former University of Wyoming offensive lineman blocked an extra point in the second half of a game versus Kansas City. It changed the complexion of a contest that the Broncos ended up winning, 22-19, to take commanding control of the division.
The Laramie native has seen more and more snaps over the past few weeks. Sunday was Crum’s fifth game since being activated, and all have been Bronco wins.
In total this season, Crum has played 47 snaps, 34 on special teams and 13 on offense for 9-2 Denver. The Broncos are idle in Week 12.

What a way to kick-off the season with facing off against two Top 10 teams at National Duals in Tulsa. Ohio State ended up winning the tournament and was the first team Wyoming faced; the boys wrestled well in some matches but in other matches they wrestled tight. Sefton Douglass gave McCrone everything he could handle at 125 and thought he was going to win that match. Eddie Neitenbach was robbed of a SV opportunity (I will discuss it a little later).
Virginia Tech was the next dual. Wyoming had an opportunity to win this dual but needed a MD, or greater victory from Novak or Caroll to do it. They would fall short, but I think it highlights how close this team is to breaking through while still early in the season. The VT match count...

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the playoff hunt, and it’s in no small part due to the play of Andrew Wingard. The former University of Wyoming safety has bounced back from an injury-plagued 2024-25 and has started every game this year for 5-4 Jacksonville.
In Sunday’s 36-29 loss at Houston, Wingard matched a season-high with nine tackles with one pass defended. For the season, he’s made 54 tackles, one interception, four passes defended, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hit.

The first three games of the season are in the books. After my report on the last exhibition game, I wanted to watch a few games before bringing any more insights. So far this has turned out to be exactly the type of schedule this team needed. They've been punched in the mouth a few times, had their struggles, and managed to win all 3 games.
RP40 is working - Sunny has brought up his RP40 philosophy for this team at every turn since this roster was put together. In a nutshell, it means that they've playing with relentless pressure for 40 minutes. As we've seen in the first 3 games, it's working. For the second year in a row, Wyoming has sent a wrestler to the NWCA All-Star classic. Novak is a returning AA (5th place) and faced off against Stephen Little from Ark-Little Rock. Little bested Novak his FR year, however Novak, got his revenge last March. One thing I noticed last year after his first lost at NCAA was that Novak seemed not to be the aggressor, but his magical run in the consolation brackets he controlled the pressure, and guys could not keep up. Josh Allen is rewriting a good portion of the Buffalo Bills’ record books. The former University of Wyoming quarterback owns a number of different franchise high marks, and he set another one Sunday in a 28-21 victory over Kansas City.
Allen tore up the Chiefs – who entered Sunday with the league’s second-best defense – through the air, going 23-for-26 for 273 yards and one score. The 88.5 percent completion percentage is the best ever in Bills’ history. Allen also did a little on the ground, carrying it six times covering 19 yards with two touchdowns.
