Pokes in the Pros: Week 5
From the desk of UW AD: It’s too soon to say whether or not Monday night was a changing of the AFC guards. However, Andrew Wingard and Jacksonville made a strong case that it could be. The Jaguars rallied two different times – the last of which was with under two minutes to play – to knock off three-time defending AFC champion, Kansas City, 31-28. The victory moves Jacksonville to 4-1, which is tied atop the AFC with two other teams, Buffalo and Indianapolis, which also have former Wyoming Cowboys on the roster. Speaking to the Jaguars’ former Cowboy, he put forth another stout game, boasting seven tackles and one quarterback hit. That gives Wingard 29 tackles, one interception, two passes defended, one fumble recovery and one...
Pokes in the Pros: Week 4
From the desk of UW Athletics Two former University of Wyoming Cowboys squared off against one another Sunday during Week 4 of the NFL season. Whether it was Josh Allen evading Carl Granderson or Granderson chasing down Allen, the two did their best at their respective positions to help their team. In the end, it was Allen and Buffalo who prevailed to improve to 4-0 on the season, while New Orleans dropped to 0-4 on the year. Allen finished 16-for-22 for 209 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while adding 45 yards on seven carries and one score on the ground. Granderson piled up five tackles, one sack of Allen, two tackles for loss and one quarterback hit. For the season, Allen is 85-for-121 for 964 yards with seven...
Pokes in the Pros: Week 3
From Bud Denega, UW Athletics LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/23/25) – The Jacksonville Jaguars had a surprisingly poor 2024-25 season. That’s not been the narrative thus far in 2025-26. The Jaguars have already amassed half the wins, two, that they had a season ago, and Andrew Wingard has certainly contributed to that. The former University of Wyoming Cowboy has accumulated 17 tackles and logged one interception for 2-1 Jacksonville. Just this past week, Wingard made six tackles in a 17-10 victory over Houston. Wingard and the Jaguars will look to keep up their winning ways in Week 4 at San Francisco. Below is a list of all the former Wyoming Cowboys and how they did in Week 3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills Allen enjoyed an efficient day in the...
Pokes in the Pros: Week 2
Release from UW Athletics: LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/16/25) – The team may not be all that great, but Carl Granderson is doing everything in his power to make New Orleans viable. The former University of Wyoming Cowboy is tied for the league lead in sacks with 3.5 following another week where he was consistently in the opponent’s backfield. Granderson boasted seven tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and three quarterback hits in the Saints’ 26-21 loss to San Francisco. For the season, Granderson owns 13 tackles, 3.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, two passes defended and four quarterback hits for 0-2 New Orleans. The Saints travel to Seattle in Week 3. Below is a list of all the former Wyoming student-athletes and how they did in Week...
Pokes in the Pros: Week 1
From UW AD: LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/9/25) – The National Football League’s season got off to an emphatic start this week, and a former University of Wyoming Cowboy was at the epicenter of it. Josh Allen thrilled fans, the ones that stuck around at least, with a come-from-behind, 41-40, victory over Baltimore on Sunday night. Allen rallied the Bills back from a 40-25 deficit with a tremendous and record-breaking fourth quarter. He became the first quarterback in league history to throw for north of 250 yards and account for two scores in a single quarter. In total, Allen was 33-for-46 for 394 yards with two touchdowns. He also rushed for a pair of scores and 30 yards in his first game as the reining Most Valuable Player. The Bills travel to...

Wrestling Updates
Greetings Wrestling Fans! Branch and Company continues to secure Top-25 recruiting classes, and the year 2026 seems to follow suit. Yesterday, they welcomed Dom Wilson, a US Open U17 71 Kg Greco Champion, into their ranks. He is coached by former Olympian Andy Hrovat out of Texas. Dom is set to join the Cowboys for the 2026-27 season; after consulting the Oracle (Google), 71 Kg converts to 157. He is scheduled to compete next week in Greece as a member of Team USA at the World Championship. His competition is expected to commence on July 29; I will plan to provide updates and links as they become available. The significance of this signing for the program cannot be overstated. The Northern Michigan Wildcats have a reputation...
