Accuracy is not the only issue that Thompson needs to fix. He needs to learn to control his throws, particularly the short throws, as during his game against Air Force, on quick slants he would throw the ball like he was trying to make a Hail Mary Pass, with as much power he put behind it.
It is going to be kinda unfair on Thompson when Wyo fans talk about him. He was only a true freshman last year, and he did decent. But then Wyo fans think of Brett Smith, and all he accomplished as a true freshman, same with ACS.
It isn't easy for a true freshman to come in and perform well. ACS and Brett Smith are just a special breed.
Thompson will learn a LOT working with Gesser this season, and hopefully he gets to red-shirt.
I see Gesser working with Thompson a lot more than he will be working with Smith, not saying that Smith doesn't need any coaching, but Smith will probably be working with DC a lot more 1-on-1.
Thompson red shirting this season, then getting playing time behind Smith next season will be great for Thompson, and Wyo.
Hopefully Thompson is over a year away from seeing playing time again, that way the Pokes can get the best out of him.
Not only that but he will develop good chemistry with the future WRs that will be starting like Nico Brown, Trent Sewell, Tanner Simpson.
