I think it seems like, other than these two games, Mac (or whoever else might fill the #2 guy role) is the real key. We know Josh will be at a high level but he can't win without help. That said, both of these losses, Jason had good games and we still lost so maybe that's not a totally fair thing to say
I think it is crucial that Josh plays at his standard level and we get solid contributions from atleast TWO (2) other people. Mac having a great game is awesome, but as we've seen the last two nights, it just isn't quite enough. We need one more person averaging ten a night. And what is going on with our defense? Holy hell. A Shyatt coached team has never given up 90 in a game and now we have 2 games in a row....WTF???
Not to defend the defense necessarily, but last night's game was tied at 69 at the end of regulation.
Defend all you want, this team has not performed defensively this season. I can never remember watching a team allow so many wide open threes and wide open point blank lay ups. Its slightly concerning.
Part of it is we are playing at a faster pace and the other part is we have a lot of young guys still trying to get the "Shyatt way" of defense down. We only have a couple upper classmen. For a Shyatt team this is the worst from a defensive stand point he has had but that is what comes with the territory with the 4th youngest team in the country.
Josh is having a year for the ages so it is fun to watch but from an overall team perspective I think we will be a better overall team next year. Just too much youth still learning right now in my opinion.
