I think Coach Bath said it well in his interview. Something about the players needing to know what the staff's expectations are. If you can't meet those expectations, then you probably won't play much. It could be that for Madden and McKenna, or it may be something else. Either way I wish them the best of luck and thank them for wearing the brown and gold.

On a side note, I would think that run blocking is a pain in the ass for a 6'9" lineman. Getting your center of gravity low enough at that height has got to be hell on your knees and hips.

Damnit I wish it was the end of August. I know I read somewhere on here that Fort was in Laramie spending his spring break with the team. Can he practice or only watch?

He's not enrolled so he can only watch.

But to be fair, we don't know why they left. If for "personal reasons" ...then best of luck to them. If because they couldn't hack it, then it is what it is.

I know why......but I am not sure I want to spoil everyone's perception of our new staff. It is SOS.

Craig Bohl is ready to see what kind of team he has.

For any coach, only so much can be learned from a practice with no tackling and limited physicality. To truly evaluate which players can hit, which ones can break a tackle, which invite contact and which avoid it, Wyoming's first-year coach needs to see the Cowboys play a game.

The first six spring practices for the Wyoming football team were not easy, and there was some hitting.

But the real hitting will be Saturday as the Cowboys hold their first scrimmage of spring drills at 11 a.m. The scrimmage is not open to the public or media.

Vorel: Wyoming fullback Van Maanen plays angry by design

Drew Van Maanen is an architect of angry.

Before practice, he builds bad moods. Wyoming's 6-foot-1, 238-pound fullback starts with a memory, something from his recent past that incurs a scowl or a muttered curse. Maybe it was a game in high school when he dropped a pass or missed a block. It could be a failed test, a broken relationship or an unfair grounding, too.
