Wyoming Spring Practice 2014

"I think the University of Wyoming has lost its way. I mean, we have guys on the team from Germany and Samoa and I look at the roster and say 'Do we have any guys from the state of Nebraska?' We're going to have hard-working midwest guys."
I could just be taking this out of context, and it probably doesn't help that I just read a thread on another forum that I stumbled on that was started by a racist (and I mean racist, they thought that blacks would still be better off as slaves) and went for 30 pages, but that doesn't sound quite right to me. :?

Bohl is SIMPLY stating that Wyoming can be successful by recruiting REGIONALLY first and then branching out. No need in the future to recruit Europe and Mars to find quality recruits. The race-baiting card can be left on the sidelines. That was not the intent of his comment.

That's what I figured. I guess I did take it out of context after reading the other forums. My bad.

And those "cornfed" boys in Nebraska are vegetarians! We need Wyoming boys! (End dig at cousins in Nebraska, lol)

I realize Bohl's intent was to try to plant a seed into some Nebraskans about Wyoming football but I gotta wonder how the Nzoechas and others feel about their coach saying they are the reason Wyoming has "lost it's way."

Wasn't the purpose, but it's kind of a dig on these guys.

What exactly is a state of the art training table? Is it the nutrition aspect or the medical aspect?

Good lord, that interview has me pumped.

Training table in this context is usually referring to the nutritional side (athlete cafeteria, etc.), he might be using it different, but that's how I've usually heard it used.

They need to get better food for the athletes. Food at Washakie sucks really bad.

Vorel: Wyoming WR Rufran doesn't expect to return to field this spring

Dominic Rufran can't run, but his imagination is running wild.

Wyoming's senior wide receiver stood to the side of a route-running drill inside the Indoor Practice Facility on Wednesday, wearing a black Nike sweatshirt with bright green drawstrings. His left foot was cushioned inside a black protective boot.

Vorel: LETTING GO

After parting ways with position and brother, Hollister adjusting at Wyoming

To move forward, Jacob Hollister had to let go.

At Wyoming, the staples of his childhood are nowhere to be found. The converted tight end grew up in Bend, Ore., with his twin brother, Cody, at his side. Jacob was the star quarterback, and Cody was the star receiver. It wasn't by accident. Like a carefully constructed puzzle, the pieces fit.

Yeah, it wasn't intentional (unlike Nevada's Brian Polian, where the intent was to insult), but Bohl has to be careful. I'd rather he call out DC than claim the current group of players.

Bohl certainly loves telling people what they want to hear. Recruiting the best of Wyoming and Nebraska sounds good, but to reach championship caliber in today's game, you must be able to recruit California, Texas, or Florida well. Its nice to get local players, but not everyone is Taven Bryan. In fact, very few are.

I don't think so at all. He's not saying its bad that those guys are on the roster. He's saying its bad that there are no Nebraskans.

One of the things he said earlier in the interview stuck out. He said he wants guys who will play FOR the university more than ones who just come to play AT the university.

For sure, but it's a double edged sword.

Like saying your wife looks better in a certain hairstyle, you don't mean anything by it but it still also means the old hairstyle looked worse.

Wyoming's way is midwestern blue collar guys... same as saying that you, Alex Borg, are NOT what Wyoming's all about.

I also have a philosophy that no polynesian football player should ever be passed up on. Beasts.

Rumor is two players quit today. A linebacker and an offensive lineman. There are ripples in the pond already.
Interesting.....I'd be willing to bet they weren't look at getting much PT this fall.

Attrition is normal following coaching changes. To be honest, I've been surprised there hasn't been more players leaving. Guys must like Bohl.

One of them was the best offensive lineman we have.....I will let you fill in the blank.

I honestly don't know....with Strong gone, I couldn't tell you who is the best remaining linemen. Outside of him, nobody played well last season.

That's not good news either way though.

Or you can just say who it is without sending people on a goose chase. We don't have good linemen and we definitely don't have a "best" one.

Don't you typically want your biggest, best guy at RT? That'd be Connor Rains going from the beginning of last year's depth chart. During practice this week, Connor wasn't practicing 1st team.

Player Moral is headed to the shitter. The new coaches are ruthless on the players....that is why practice is closed in case you haven't figured that out.
