Again I will point out that we are only going to go as far as the starting 5 take us right now. People don't want to hear it, but we are not a deep team right now, in fact we are an extremely thin team and our only guy who can really beat people off the dribble is Adams.

We don't have much behind the starters or a real spark off the bench, instant-offense type guy who can provide something when the starting 5 aren't scoring, something like Nathan Sobey last year is sorely missing on a night like tonight.

You are right on concerning not getting any penetration and having no one who can beat people off the dribble. I said it a while ago, we will miss Sobey badly. We've got to figure out a way to get the ball to Larry deep in the post.

They lost at home to a top 20 team, lost on the road to a top 10 team, and lost a close one at Indiana. They're without some of their better players. They're long, athletic, and extraordinarily well coached. Nevermind, they suck.

Listen, I'm pissed that Wyoming lost, but at least it's not a bad loss. It's a missed opportunity, but we won't be penalized for not winning at SMU. I'm more disappointed that our team and coaches seemed to move away from everything that we've been doing right so far this season that has made us successful. We took bad shots, got sloppy with the ball, quit trying to penetrate, missed open shots, got killed on pick and rolls, etc.

I totally disagree.... There is a reason SMU came into the season ranked. They arent ranked anymore obviously but they have some VERY good talent and an extremely good coach. SMU has had some injuries and some hiccups to start the year but this team won 27 games last year and made the NIT championship i believe. Not to mention i think they signed 2 4 stars last year as well. SMU isnt going to beat anybody ..??????? REALLY????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? This is nothing but BS.

I don't think anyone is giving up. It's just a bummer to miss out on an opportunity to improve our NCAA resume. We get another opportunity on Wednesday.

This loss won't hurt our resume. Hopefully we learn from it and it makes us tougher going forward.

That is exactly it, they are not a good team with who they beat us with. If they beat us with the people that are out then it would be a more except able loss however with who beat us it's not.

That is not the same team that got them ranked, They beat us with backups. You might think it's ok to lose to backups I don't. We got beat by a team we shouldn't have however if it was the same team that got them ranked injury free I would agree they are a good team.

Maybe I was wrong by saying people are giving up which isnt the case but this shouldnt even be an argument. It hurts our resume and takes our top 25 hopes out for the time being but dont argue something that shouldnt be. This team will bounce back and hopefully we can beat cal and that will help with this loss. I was hoping to get one of those 2 games and we still can so go pokes and have a good night everybody.

Shyatt nailed it, he got out coached and we got outplayed after a nice 6 point lead about 9 minutes out. Time out, play selection backdoor ally oop over their athletic bigs to JA? Bad design, our offense wilted and our Defense didn't show for the last part of the second half. 18-1 run, we essentially played their game at their place with the crowd in our face. The pundits now are showing the true colors, are you kidding me this Mustang team is very talented and deep especially in the paint. We showed our tendency to not rebound at crucial points and Grab's couldn't cover Moore. Nance forgot how to score and we could not find a way to get him to contribute. The game within the game is we have had our way with some decent teams at home and when you play in a place like Moody and a sellout, it's tough. We didn't get the job done and Shyatt has to look in the mirror and figure out how to win these road games against legitimate teams. We are fine, and have a very solid team and a decent bench. What we are lacking is another athletic scoring BIG. Something we've known for a very long time we have fundamentally needed.

We didn't get beat with any back ups. They had all of their players back last night except for one and that is Markus Kennedy who they get back later this month.

As much as SMU "Sucks" according to some of you. And as easy as it should've been for us to win in The Coliseum (Larry Brown & SMU 23-2 at home).
At least we WEREN'T ranked 17th in the nation and lost at home to NJIT!!!

I don't get how SMU sucks? They had 3 super athletic bigs that all could score and D. That guard Moore was fucking crazy!!! Between those 4 alone you have a rock solid team then top that off with Larry Brown as your coach. He's won an NBA finals and won an NCAA championship as coach. Yeah I think he's probably a better coach then Shyatt. They will be playing tourney ball in some form this year most likely NCAA.

As far as the Pokes go we've really been exposed now. Super athletic well coached teams are gonna be a problem for us. I think we can take Cal cause they don't have as much low post presence as SMU. I'm not sure about Jarbari Bird's health either. If he's hurt or out they will struggle. We need this Cal win and what we really needed was to split SMU/Cal. Even if we lose to Cal it won't be the end of the world. Just gotta find a way into 24+ win range, we're gonna be hard to overlook at that range.

I've had time to process this one, and all I can say is the team's Achilles heel is as it always has been: we have a hard time getting to the rack against good defensive teams. We shot 6 FTs in this game compared to SMU's 23, and a bit of that might be hometown officiating (Hi, Dave Hall!) but most of it is that we couldn't get anything going to the rim. It was especially odd how hard of a time we had getting Larry the ball in anything resembling decent post position. I trust our staff will watch the tape and make adjustments, but nothing about this performance was anything new to those of us who have watched the team in the Shyatt era.
