This should be a very interesting game. With some good solid run defense and some luck, I think we will win this game. I hope we don't pull another UNLV out of our ass this week.

UNM's defense is a complete horror show. If the Pokes defense can at least be decent, this should be a comfortable win.

Biggest game in Bohl's Wyoming career. He better have these guys dialed in. Hosting the MWC title game beats any bowl game options we have.

So...UNM's defense belongs in the Big XII?

Gawd, I wish Wyoming was playing Oklahoma in a bowl this year. Brain Hill could rack up some major yardage against those morons.

i think the first unlv is still in there

If we can run on their defense we will win the game. If we can't get the run game going then all bets are off and it'll devolve into a UNLV-type game. Come on, Pokes!

Every game is different, but New Mexico is 56th in run defense compared to SDSU in 3rd (and we bumped their numbers up by 10 yards per game on Saturday).

Well, putting up 200+ rushing yards on the supposed #2 rush defense in the country will do that. And so many people had written us off because SDSU had inflated their stats against a bunch of bad teams. Including their darling RB this season. Who had a whopping 76 yards and no TDs! A full 100 yards below his average.

I don't get the "need" to talk about how bad SDSU is. We beat them by a single point. At home. Wouldn't that make US a bad team, since home advantage is somewhere between 3 and 4 points?

We beat them, and sure half their points came on kick returns, but those points count every bit as much as regular points. I want to play them again so we can prove to their fans that the first game wasn't a fluke, but pretending they're a bad team doesn't do anything for the supposed quality of our own team.

That said, if we lose to New Mexico, we'll have shown that we're not as good as we hope we are, whether it's because of lacking mental toughness, or overall skill. NM will rip off a few big runs, and it'll be key that our secondary limits those runs to 10-15 yards rather than 50+ because of failed tackles.

you make solid points in saying Kickoff returns count just as much but id say that 9 times out of 10 that you play a team, they are not going to have 2 kickoff returns for TDs. That was an anomaly and typically when that happens you lose that game. So it was big to get the win for sure.

IF we don't sleep on New Mexico and we played SDSU again, I'm pretty sure that we do cover kick returns better. Hell, if that wind isn't there, Rothe kicks it deep enough into the endzone so it won't be returned to begin with. He had no problem kicking it well past the endzone going the opposite direction.

On the other side of things, IF we play SDSU again, I have a feeling we'll also see more of the things they did against us during their 2 minute offense drives, which is scary. On the other hand, hopefully by then we'll figure out how to defend it better.
