Wyoming lost its long snapper for the season. Big deal? Or no big deal?

I am trying to work out in my head what this means for the pokes this season but hopefully we have some kids in staff that can pick it up. Would be a great opportunity for a non scholarship kid to make it into the game.

no big deal if we score touchdowns etc...field goals and punting could be a different story but like everything else, practice, practice, practice, get it down and get good at it then this will NOT be an issue at all

Not a big deal at all. Van Maanen has been a backup snapper since Bohl arrived. It would only become a big deal if he somehow got hurt and then we are out our fullback.

We should be ok either way. Long snapping is one of those skills that can be taught and get a guy to a proficient level in pretty short order. Sure there's folks that commit their whole football experience to it, but so long as we have a guy that's serviceable, we're ok.

I'm still more concerned about the punter than whoever is long snapping.
Eh, he's a true freshman who has the physical tools to become solid. Not all that strange that he let nerves get to him on a big stage in his very first game.

Big deal at some point and time. Anyone who knows football knows this. It is a specialty position. In the NFL it's a spot on a 53 man roster, in college it's a 4 year ride. Not something to be overlooked.

Last PAT the long snapper was 97. The roster has that as Caleb Cantrell, Freshman out of Hurst, Texas.

He's a walk-on btw. Someone said the snap on that tipped FG was low fwiw.

I believe on the tipped fg the snap bounced on the ground it was nice play by the holder just to get it. But after that point on the punts and other long snap plays i thought it looked fine
