For all you jokers that are criticizing Shyatt think about this: ...... !SCHROYER!

How much better is the program with Shyatt than with SCHROYER? How quickly some of you forget. smh

If not for three, THREE bullshyt, freak occurrences to our best player in three consecutive years we'd probably have three NCAA's under our belt.

We weren't on pace for a NCAA at large last year before Nance went down. And we weren't really on pace for a NCAA at large this year either. Every bradketoligist had us out of the tournament, even before mono struck. Once we lost to USU our only chance has been the tournament, barring some kind of super hot finish to the season.
It's up for debate

But why do we have to have a team that is so dependent on one player that if he goes down we go from first place in the Mountain West to the Hulett High School junior varsity?

Debateable isn't the same as fact as you originally presented. You made it seem as if Wyoming was a clear cut NCAA team, when they were a questionable one at best, in terms of at-large bid.

I'm as disappointed as anyone else but Shyatt is working on it. We needed to be a good team first and then add depth. We are a good team now so we can work on getting that depth. Coaches can turn around a starting line up fairly fast but building a program that can sustain a loss of the top player takes many years. I think we'll be there soon. Next year will be down but I feel good about the progression. We are getting better every year.

Fire that sombitch! I say this a little tongue and cheek. However I do believe that his time has passed him by. His style of play may have worked in the late 70's but the game has progressed. I can't understand why all of these "old School" people believe that you have to score 45 points a game to have success. You can have both a stinging defense and a prolific offense in today's world.

Actually, Shy's style is making a comeback:

The point is still the same. There would be no CBIs and who knows, maybe we make a sweet sixteen one of those years. The point is it's totally out of the control of the coach that we've been robbed of glory these last three years.

You guys act like this team would have been this bad all year if say Larry went pro last year. I bet none of us have any idea how hard it is to deal with the loss of a player like Larry mid season on the fly. TSpoke said in a different thread that Boise lost tons of games after drimic went out. Nance is a much bigger losss that drimic. Everyone's overreacting pisses me off and make WYO fans seem like whiny bitches

Oh come on now...you can't make an argument based on this article. First off I could only read part of it unless I subscribed but more importantly the part that I read made reference to games scoring in the 70's and 80s. We had 14 at half last night 14!. Furthermore my argument is the poor way in which Shyatt uses the shot clock. Every possession is a scramble at the end to get a shot and lately it has been a BAD shot selection. Even the commentators we amiss by it last might. The game is evolving to look more and more like the pro game where it is all about one on one match ups and play. To date the NCAA has allowed the use of creative defenses to keep this in check that is what makes the college game so much more fun to watch in my opinion. So the direction of the game is not merely as concerning to me as how Shyatt utilizes his players.

Now I will be the first to admit that he has had great success considering we are in Wyoming in the last two years and yes has had a run of bad luck. But come on man, the poor shot selections and sense of panic at the end of ever possession is pointless! Not to mention we are really boring t watch!

We used to have no dominant players.

Yeah Im not really sure what the answet to that is. Not have Larry so the team isn't built around him? Sure it would be awesome to have another Larry(after last season I thought Adams would be a 1b to Larry's 1A option but he has regressed some this year imo). But it isn't like we are a pro team that invested too much into one player. We got lucky with an under recruited player that bought into Shyatts vision and became a superstar. the rest of the team is coming slower but it is coming. The senior class is the first class these coaches recruited(and on short notice) every year that followed we have recruited better than the previous. Next year we only have JA as a senior so it could be a little rougher but I am looking forward to seeing what the young kids(freshman and the current kids gaining experience) can do next year. I think Herndon, and McM are gonna make giant leaps, TW3 after his redshirt is gonna be good(between him and Conway i don't know if we have ever had 2 players as quick). We are gonna need some freshman(redshirt or true) step up in the post or we will be thin down there next year but we will be better at the guard spots.

No overreacting just the facts. 1-8 without Nance that is a SJSU type season.

I don't think anyone on here is comparing him to Schroyer. That dude was a wreck!

BTW LanderPoke you should be able to watch some good bball right there in your home town. According to the Wyopreps site Lander Boys are rolling up and down the floor. Averaging 72.7 points a game (leading the state) and a record of 11-5. Sounds like good basketball to me.

I'm sick of the "He is better than Schroyer so we got it good" talk.

I love Shyatt and think he can lead us to the promised land, but CBI after CBI after CBI isn't cutting it. And just because Schroyer was terrible, and we are putting up about 20 wins per season now, doesn't mean that we can't be frustrated with lack of continued success and being frustrated at why we aren't taking this program to the next level yet.

I hear Lander is fun to watch, but Laramie is my hometown! Anyway, I would like to see Lander play..would have to make time, though. tax season is starting to ramp up.

Beaver! Why are we in three strait CBIs? Because a freak occurrence has derailed our season each time. Shyatt has put us in position for much more each time.

Actually Nance put us in the position. Shyatt would of put us in position without Nance but it didn't happen.
