Wyoming's open NCAA Tournament practice (WyoSports)

Highlights from Wyoming's open practice for fans and media at Key Arena in Seattle on Thursday, March 19, 2015 on the eve of the Cowboys' NCAA Tournament game with Northern Iowa. Video by Robert Gagliardi/WyoSports.

Jr.'s back must be feeling better because he dunked one two-handed. At times this season he looked like he couldn't jump over a lunchbox. This is probably why he's playing better. We were rolling teams early in the season when Jr. was contributing a lot; we need him.

IKR, I saw him dunk and I was like wait is that real I didn't think he could do that because I've never seen him dunk.
I knew he could dunk because he pretty much dunked one on me at Half Acre.

Hlas: Wes Washpun’s Cowboy dad is all-UNI today
Panther guard’s father played at Wyoming three decades ago

“I got all kinds of phone calls, texts and emails from friends I played ball with (after Wyoming was matched against UNI).” Troy Washpun said. “Most of them are in California or on the West Coast. A couple are still in Wyoming. I guess it’ll be somewhat of a reunion. Some of them plan on making it out there.”

Tuttle, Nance headline NCAA match-up
UNI, Wyoming clash early Friday in Seattle

SEATTLE — Seth Tuttle is a self-made man from small-town Iowa. Larry Nance Jr. is a self-made man with NBA bloodlines. They both stand 6-foot-8 and lead their teams in scoring and rebounding.

Tuttle, a senior from fifth-seeded Northern Iowa (30-3), was tabbed Missouri Valley Conference player of the year. Nance, a senior from 12th-seeded Wyoming (25-9), was first-team all-Mountain West Conference. In many ways, it difficult to distinguish between their resumes and statistics.

NCAA Bentz thoughts along the way: Day 4 (WyoSports.net)

Editor’s note: University of Wyoming senior guard Jack Bentz is providing WyoSports with a daily diary of his thoughts as the Cowboys go through the process of preparing for the NCAA Tournament.

As the game draws near, we are reminded of what’s at stake. While we are preparing for this game like every other, we know that this tournament is one-and-done. Northern Iowa is a very good team, very well-coached and is 30-3 for a reason. Nevertheless, we are embracing the moment and are determined to leave it all out on the floor. As the saying goes in March Madness, “survive and advance.”

Cowboys NCAA Today: UW, Northern Iowa both feature dominant big men (WyoSports.net)

“I try not to get caught up in all that. But it is thrown in my face every day,” said Nance with a laugh this week on the comparisons between him and Tuttle.

“He’s a really good player, and I’m looking forward to going up against a player of that caliber. He will try to go up and under you. He can shoot it. He’s just a very versatile and all-around great player.”

Cowboys NCAA Today notebook: Adams emerges into go-to guy, leader for Cowboys (WyoSports.net)

SEATTLE – Seconds before tipoff of the title game at the Mountain West Tournament, Josh Adams went up to the other four University of Wyoming starters,

With his index finger pointing out, he said: “One more.”

“There was one time when he had a follow-up jam against Utah State (in the quarterfinals of the MW Tournament) where I was at half court and I just laughed,” senior guard Riley Grabau said. “I don’t even know how to react anymore to the things he can do.”

Bentz: NCAA thoughts along the way: Day 5

Thank you.

The season is over. For the five seniors, it was the last time we put on a Cowboy uniform. While the game did not turn out the way we had planned, we can honestly say we gave it our all this year.

I am equally excited to watch and support our team for years to come and wish the underclassmen nothing but the best. We have great leadership and direction under Coach Shyatt, who will sustain a winning culture.

Kensler: Wyoming's outgoing seniors won't soon be forgotten (Denver Post)

"I'm going to miss coaching them on the floor, but I'm not going to miss them," Shyatt said. "I'm not getting old. We're going to spend some good times together and we're going to share some more successes down the road."

Wyoming's program will go on. Shyatt said he is excited about the incoming recruiting class for next season. Those players include four current high school seniors: 5-foot-10 Austin Conway of Colorado state champion Overland High School; 6-6 Justin James of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; 6-8 Andrew Moemeka of Lake City, Fla.; and 6-9 Jordan Naughton of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Also added was a junior college player from Florida, 6-2 Morris Marshall.

That infusion of talent will bring excitement to the program. And Shyatt loves their potential.

Wyovision may have been dropping the ball on their football videos, but this is a first class production. What a season to remember, and what great players to have representing us!
