Notes and Quotes: Wyoming enjoys first conference bye
DEFENSIVE MINDSET
It's no secret where Shyatt's priorities lie.
Wyoming's leader is a defensive coach, and that mindset has been imprinted on his team. The Cowboys allow just 53.3 points per game, which ranks fourth nationally and second in the Mountain West.
Shyatt elaborated on what he expects from his players on the defensive end on Monday.
“I’m a little demented when it comes to [defense], and our guys know that. They make fun of it," Shyatt said. "I always want our players to be worried, have an edge, be concerned on D. Every guy, every possession, we need to be concerned about the first eight seconds and defensive rebounding.
"That is where you should be putting the pressure on -- how fast you sprint back to D, how much you care about team defense and how you finish defensive possessions.”
