Stat Study: Wyoming surging into San Jose

Assists

This is where the Cowboys really excel. Wyoming averages 15.9 assists per game, which ranks first in the Mountain West and 34th nationally.

A better indication of their selflessness, however, is assist percentage. Wyoming assists on 69.6 percent of its offensive possessions, which ranks first nationwide.

The Cowboys also do a good job holding onto the basketball. Their 1.52 assist to turnover ratio ranks first in the Mountain West and ninth in the country.

The redundant truth: This team is extremely unselfish.

Hey POKE FAN, I just have to thank you again for posting all of these comments, tweets, videos, etc. It is really nice to be able to read/view these posts without having to search the entire universe for all things Wyoming :)

Anyway, thanks for all of the hard work...it is appreciated.
No problem. I usually have 6-8 different websites pulled up at any one time (financial/investment, sports, Twitter, etc.), so I'm able to catch the Pokes-related stuff fairly quickly. The forum software used by WyoNation really adds color to the information flow by easily allowing embedded tweets and youtube videos. Beats the crap out of a lot of message boards. Thanks for the comments. Just trying to keep the interest flowing. I see good things ahead for UW's athletics programs.

You are making it super easy to follow.

Didn't realize how "out of the loop" I would feel after leaving Laradise. This thread alone makes it super easy to catch up on.

Thanks.

Wyoming escapes shaky outing at San Jose State with victory

"I thought our mindset at the beginning of the game was the difference," Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt said. "I just thought we felt too good for ourselves, and that had an effect."

"Down the home stretch, I was very proud of our defense, I was very proud of our defensive rebounding, and Josh Adams made some great attack plays," Shyatt said.

Cowboys survive scare to beat San Jose State (WyoSports.net)

Senior forward Derek Cooke Jr. played only four minutes in the second half, but Shyatt said it was his decision because he wanted to move Nance to center to try and draw more fouls on Basor, who was in foul trouble. Shyatt said when UW does that, it usually is better to play redshirt freshman Alan Herndon or redshirt sophomore wing Jason McManamen at the power forward spot. Herndon played 16 minutes, all in the second half. ... The Cowboys are 7-9 in MW road openers and 3-1 with Shyatt as coach. ... UW leads the series with San Jose State 7-1 and 3-1 in San Jose. ... Grabau played in his 100th game for UW.

I hope Washington stays. He showed so much hope and promise as a senior in high school and flashes during his freshman year.

Between him, Conway, Lieberman, McManamen, and the others, we could have some great shooters on the team in a couple seasons.

Colorado State can't afford to dwell on first loss

The Rams' flaws were exposed Saturday night by New Mexico and magnified by a near-sellout crowd of 15,225 screaming fans at The Pit, where Colorado State University hasn't won since 2007 and has lost 44 times in the 49 games its teams have played there.

"We just have to get this out of our minds Sunday, get back to the court on Monday and just get back to work," said Bejarano, who led the Rams on Saturday night with 13 points and 11 rebounds. "This is going to be big for (Wyoming), Every team we play, it's going to be big. They're going to try to bring their 'A' game, try to get their crowd to sell it out."

Haha what a fuck head. Right, you entitled sheep, people are stoked to play YOU.
It's not like New Mexico has one of the nicer and most intimidating places to play in the country, along with a very rich basketball history, all of that isn't why they sold out, it's because it was the great Colorado State.

It's a big game for Wyoming?
Why? Because we are ahead of you in the standings so it's super huge for us to play the legendary rams?

What a douche.

Vorel: Wyoming's next three games could make or break season

Wyoming has already been tested.

Players and coaches love to say that there's something different about conference play. And thus far, it's hard to argue. In its first two Mountain West games, Larry Shyatt's team has been challenged every which way -- forced to match an offensive onslaught at home and persevere through a cold gym and an even icier shooting night on Saturday in San Jose.
