Those high ankle sprains are really serious and take a long time to recover from. Even if he came back, it would take awhile to get into game shape because he hasn't been able to do any conditioning. Could be there are some other issues there too.

I'm surprised by this. There will be a bit of a log jam at the pg position in the future with Liberman, Washington, and Conway. I'm super high on Liberman and I'm assuming Conway will be a stud so I was thinking that the coaches might want to get Washington through the program. Plus I think we could use Washington's help at pg this year.

Wyoming's Nance proves he can still take over games

“The thing I respect most about Larry is that he lets the game come to him," Shyatt said. "I don’t think he’s consumed with taking games over with scoring points. This last game was a study in that very point. He got in early foul trouble, and he really was just another guy out there in the first half. He had to sit on the bench close to nine minutes.

"He did have some energy in the tank, fortunately, in the second half. He has become a really good passer. He’s a very good rebounder inside and outside. And last but not least, he’s a good scorer when that opportunity exists."

Who is Clint Parks?
I replied to you on page-2, but you must have missed it. Here was my response:

"He is really good friends with Jeremy Lieberman. He is finishing his classwork at UW (communications, I think). Is/was an AAU coach in Cali (Team Eleate). Seems to have a lot of connections, basketball-wise. Has been working out Lieberman, Muojeke and Martinez on the side recently. Not affiliated with UW basketball, so he can work out current and former Pokes, as I understand it. Obviously knows his stuff."

Appreciate it. Yeah, I totally missed that earlier.

Wyoming Faces Third Front Range Foe Versus Denver on Tuesday (GoWyo.com)

Head coach Joe Scott returned four starters from a Denver team that went 16-15 overall and 8-6 in the Summit League last season. The Pioneers are 3-2 so far in 2014-15, but both losses have come on the road. Most recently, Denver earned a 79-60 win over New Orleans on Sunday.

Cowboys face another test, change in tempo tonight against Denver (WyoSports.net)

It will be a stark contrast from the New Mexico State game, where the Aggies wanted to run offensively and pressure defensively.

“They get post-up action and 3-point action,” Shyatt said of Denver. “Their veterans are really leading the way. This is possibly the most physical team we play each year. You’re not going to post up without someone putting you in a confrontation.”

Under the Radar Game of the Day – Tuesday, December 2

Under the Radar Game of the Day – Tuesday, December 2

The UTR Game of the Day heads to Laramie, Wyoming tonight — one of the toughest places in the country for a visiting team to play. The Cowboys will be hosting Joe Scott’s Denver Pioneers, a team that has, for the past few years, significantly underachieved. The Pioneers will be looking for a road win to try to get their season headed in the right direction.

While teams from the Mountain West tend not be true Under the Radar teams, we do occasionally focus on them, especially those in the middle and lower portions of the conference standings that are not getting national attention. Wyoming is out to a perfect 6-0 start on the season, including a 56-33 home drubbing of Colorado and a three point home win over WAC favorite New Mexico State. The Cowboys have not, however, left Laramie yet this season. A trip Friday night to SMU will change that, and could put them on the national radar if they sweep their two games this week.

Wyoming uses first half run, swarming defense to bury Denver

"I thought after we got off to a very poor start, we played as good of basketball as we've played since we've been back," Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt said.

"To be honest, we have a lot of great shooters on this team," Hankerson said. "We definitely believe in ourselves, and whoever is shooting the ball, we have complete confidence that they are going to knock it down."

Notes and Quotes: Wyoming 68, Denver 42

HERNDON'S PRODUCTION

Wyoming redshirt freshman forward Alan Herndon made his presence felt on Tuesday night, repeatedly cutting to the basket and finishing at the rim. The 6-foot-9 forward finished with nine points and six rebounds in 21 minutes.

"He really was active at both ends," Shyatt said.

AKA GORSKI'S CAMEO

Freshman guard Alexander Aka Gorski made the most of his brief cameo on Tuesday, scoring seven points and hitting on all four of his free throw attempts in only six minutes of play.

Shyatt said Aka Gorski will have an x-ray on Wednesday to determine if he can retire the splint that has been covering a broken fingertip on his left hand.

Cowboys run Pioneers out of Arena-Auditorium; with VIDEO (WyoSports.net)

“I have the utmost respect for (Denver coach Joe Scott) and his program, and I was very surprised we could do what we did tonight,” Shyatt said. “After we got off to a very poor start with a couple of ill-advised shots that bled into our defense, I thought we played as good of basketball as we’ve played probably since we’ve been back (at the start of the 2011-12 season).”

Most would agree. (Shepard and Vaughn are the "two others".)
