Why the Border War Is Fierce

they have rules against things like the bounce pass nowadays
Are you sure? Looks to me like it's a backwards pass hitting the ground, aka a fumble. Amazingly clever play! Well done sheep. I see your bounce pass and raise you 44-0!

I think there is a rule now that once there is a fumble the ball cannot be forwardly advanced by the offensive player and the ball is dead where the offensive player recovers the ball. Definately not sure one the exact ruling but that is what I believe the gist of it is.

You are 100% right. It is an illegal play. My source; Section 3 Article 2, part e-1 of the NCAA Football rulebook. You cannot pass the ball once it has hit the ground. Here's the link to the rulebook. It's a monster I warn you. Cheaters ;)

oh well shit....i guess i was right and didn't even know it

How do the "forward pass rules" apply to that play? It was not a forward pass, but a "lateral", as it were, that technicaly falls into the fumble category.

Reminds me of a trick Kansas used a few years ago when the QB started yelling at an end to get off the field before the snap, saying that there were too many men on the field. As the end started racing for the sidelines, the QB was snapped the ball and the end cut down the sidelines unguarded to catch the ball for a TD (tricky - there were not 12 men on the offense)

the touchdown pass was the illegal forward pass in this instance because you can't scoop up a fumble and pass it forward...for the same reason that a player can't purposefully bat a loose ball towards the opponents endzone

Sure you can. QBs throw fumbled snaps all the time.
