Not surprised. I'm sure the financial gap between the two conferences will widen even further over time. That will eventually result in a significant talent gap, especially in today's college athletics landscape of being able to buy talent without any salary cap restrictions in place.
I'm honestly surprised to see so many fans of the leftover MWC teams doing mental gymnastics to convince themselves that somehow the MWC is the better conference or at least at the same level as the PAC. By pretty much every objective measurement that I see, the PAC is clearly set up to be the better of the two conferences.
I will say that I think the PAC is delusional in thinking what they have is enough to get them into the "upper echelons" of the college football hierarchy. I think the PAC teams and MWC teams all end up at the same level - whatever that is once things get worked out over the next decade. But I do think the PAC will, on average, be quite a bit better than the MWC if everything stays the same.
