What's taking so long to announce the OC?

Not sure why it's taking so long. Are we whiffing on candidate after candidate? Is the new OC coaching in the FCS title game and prefers to wait til after that game?

This does not seem abnormally long to me. There are a lot of moving pieces with the transfer portal entries closing just yesterday. I’d rather Sawvel do his due diligence and take the necessary time. It appears Waylee is staying so that already is a win.

Strange number to throw out there, no pun intended.

Gotta be basing that on some kind of metric. I don't think we'll average 315 by any means, but I think what he's saying is that we'll need 350ish yards to win a game, and if the run is shut down we'll have to sling it.

I like that Sawvel is saying we cannot just rely on winning games without a strong passing game. Bohl it seemed always saw passing the ball as an adjunct to the running game, not as an equal part of what is needed on offense to win.

Umm…I know Sawvel has been busy focusing on the defense but I hope he has actually looked at the receiver depth chart. Our top presumed returning receivers are seniors Alex (gator armed the TD throw) Brown and Will Pelissier. We have one real receiving threat returning: the tight end Gyllenborg.

If this is remotely serious, we need at least 2 good receiver transfers who can contribute right away.

It's between somebody we know (internal hire) and won't like or somebody we don't and won't like (unproven/unkown).

Neyor…….thought I’d rile up the natives today.

Svoboda to Neyor would be the most interesting QB-WR combo since Wallwork to Harris IMO.

Seriously and not trolling, I'm predicting Grant.

I really have no inside knowledge but I bet you are right. I guess we'll see if just having Bohl gone with largely the same staff will make the offense better.

I know TX players and Grant aren't that popular on this board, but, I think you need a TX connection especially at WR. Grant and Oscar provide that.

If we can get a WR that can catch better than Alex Brown, they could come from the cold side of the moon for all I care.

I get that and agree. We aren't getting the 4+ star guys here. It would be interesting to have a professional evaluation but my guess is that of the lowly recruited guys, there are more working out from TX (and likely other areas in the South). Midwest connections are great and I could be totally wrong, but just predicting that those areas aren't as deep at WR as the South. For us to get a good WR, we need a pretty deep pool.

This wouldn’t make sense to me with the timing. If Sawvel was intending an internal hire, then why not announce Aaron Bohl and the OC at the same time? Sawvel has likely one FBS head coaching opportunity to get it right. If he fails, it’s unlikely he sees his time to shine again. He has already stated that the offense needs to change to accommodate a passing game. I think we will see an outside hire.

Just wild speculation on my part but I wonder if he is waiting on someone with either Washington or less Likely Michigan
