We have enough talent to win the MWC tournament.

That's our only chance of saving the dream. We need to mitigate the damage for the rest of the season and win the tourney.

We were in first when Nance went down. When he's healthy we can beat anybody.

It sucks that we've lost our best player three seasons in a row, but I'm not giving up on this team. I expect us to lose some while we're not healthy. That doesn't change the fact that we can beat anyone when everyone is healthy.

P.S. You don't have to be a douche. I didn't give the team mono.

I think it is possible. If the team is healthy - it is sure a possibility.

4 years in we are starting to get some depth on the team. Its too bad we don't have a couple of LNJ's on the team right now.

This program was a damn disaster under Heath. It's night and day better now. We had some depth this year until we lost three of our top 4 post players in the span of two weeks. No one in the league is going to do well if they lose three players out of their post rotation.

I hope the team keeps their heads up and the Wyoming fans don't act like the cry baby assholes that we can be as soon as something turns bad.

We have five weeks until the start of the tourney. We can win it and Herndon and Nance will be close to 100 percent by then.

I hate the kind of ass kickings that we got the last two games as much as anyone, but I think your right.

This team, when it is healthy, is tough, shoots well, and plays good defense. It also has a good combination of pace + defense that works well. It gels quite well. I hope the coaches can plan better and get someone to step up and score more to halt the onslaught -- Then lets get to the tourney healthy.

3 of our top 4 post players? Sellers was nothing more than a body on the floor. He did virtually nothing. He was a garbage time player. Herndon is not a post player. He's tall but that's it. He doesn't have enough muscle to post up. Other than Nance, we don't have a post player.

If last night didn't open your eyes, nothing will. Did you see how they full court pressed us? They were going to make us attack the basket or make us turn it over. Did you see how many turnovers we made by passing the ball away from the basket? This should be the blue print to play us. Press us, make us play or turn it over, and in the process, wear us out just by making us work to break the press.

No, I don't agree we can win the tournament. We have to play 3 games in three days with our lack of depth? Plus, every game we play will probably be close. I think on any given night, we can beat anyone in conference except for San Diego state. Even with Nance, we can't match their quickness and size.

Might be 4 games as fast as we will fall in the standings without Nance. Too much reliance on one guy yet again.

Idk. I actually thought Barnes did quite well with only 5'min of play time. And in only that amount of time became our leading scorer off the bench. I think Barnes and Tyrell Williams have the potential to be better as good as or better than Nance and Cooke.
We will also have challenging players coming in with Momeka and Naughton.
With what I saw last night I really wish Barnes would've got more play time.
I really think he and Cooke would do well together in the game. It might even open Cooke up more!

Nance demands double teams and frees up the open man. Nance also does it all defensively and offensively.

With him we are competitive with anyone. Without him we are one of the worst teams in conference. I just hope he's back and at 100 percent for the tourney so that we have a team to cheer for.

I too thought Barnes looked good and should bee getting more playing time. He's is our only big with the physical requirements to play inside. Herndon has a better skill set but is more of a slashing forward. He is not built to bang down low. Not yet at least, Nance was quite gangly when he arrived

Barnes looked good because he was playing against walk-ons. He's still very raw, with poor footwork. He gets out of position and doesn't have vision for what is going on around him. He can lock on his guy and then be oblivious to weak-side help he's supposed to provide. He's a decent presence in zone, but man to man, he gets schooled.

6 games to go and 1 guaranteed tourney game, time to circle the wagons and play a smaller schedule, not the body of work like it's talked about and the goal is to win those (of course) and make on heck of a tourney run

3-3 would put us at 22-9, but I'd love 23-8 better, if not better than that.

It starts again on Saturday, Cmon Pokes show me you care

Agree we have enough talent - with everyone healthy, and at their peak, to win the tourney.

But I would also say that outside of SJSU, everyone has enough talent to win the tourney.

We look horrible right now...we look lost...we look unenthused...and we have no identity. Court leadership is lacking as well.

Are you talking about Barnes or Cooke...I couldn't decipher a difference...

I'm with CJ here - we went from being the best team in the conference to the worst. It might be that we lack depth at the post, but I think it is more mental than that.

Why the fuck isn't Barnes in the game more? Throw him to the wolves and see what happens.

SDSU's length absolutely killed us, and at least he shows some energy when he gets in the game!

Start him on Saturday, what would it hurt, in the beginning????

Looking at the conference standings and future schedules I would say a few things about the MW tournament. Right now we are in 3rd place, one game out of 1st (really 2), but we are also only 2 games out of 7th place. The standings are starting to mirror the preseason picks with SDSU the clear favorite to win the conference and little separation between 2-7.

If we want to make any noise in the tournament it's critical also to stay above the 7 seed and avoid having to play on Wednesday. Currently NM and UNLV are 7-8 and we still have to travel to both, yikes. Assuming we can get Nance back and somewhat rally the troops before the tournament maybe we can finish 11-7 and avoid the 7 seed.

Currently I see the standings ending up 1 SDSU, 2 BSU, 3 CSU and then who knows after that. In that scenario I think it would actually be to Wyomings advantage to end up right where we were picked preseason, 6. That would avoid the Wednesday game and give us a quarterfinal on Thursday against #3 CSU, which right now is clearly our best match up. We would also avoid SDSU until the proverbial final and we would get a hypothetical semi-final against BSU late Friday night. We'd have a good crowd for that. Finishing 4 or 5 would likely get us quarterfinal against maybe USU and semi final SDSU.

All of this is moot though if the team doesn't turn things around REAL fast.
