W-Y-O Echo cheer to be put back into action...

November 7th against BYU...as requested by us fans & the cheerleader team. Good to see that the UW marketing group / UW administration is taking fans & their own cheerleaders seriously, and putting the greatest cheer in WYO history back in action!

Good to hear... and it will be good to actually hear it too. They need a lot more crowd involvement to make it more exciting to go to games. I REALLY want to see crowds at War Memorial averaging 25k and more every season. I know people have to come in from far away, but if they can show up for the Texas game, they CAN show up for every game, right?

I think they should take a look at what some pro teams do in different sports. Colorado Mammoth would be a good example. I've never been myself to one of their games, but apparently the experience is what sells the Pepsi Center out night after night (and the cheap tickets along with a short season), rather than just the Lacrosse team itself. In 2008, they averaged more people than both Avalanche and Nuggets.

Do NOT look at the Colorado Avalanche of the last few years... no crowd interaction at all, pretty much, and only occasional chants from the crowd. I think they'll get better as they seem to be focusing on making it a more exciting experience this season, but we'll see.

Some people also tell me that Air Force games (@ Air Force) are a lot of fun. Could we maybe take a page out of their book?

Anyways, the main point of my post is that I want a lot more people to show up to War Memorial, and that these people are both loud and proud, making it difficult for ANY opponent, including BCS teams like Nebraska and Mizzou who are coming in in the next few seasons.

Lets see if the cheerleaders can do it right this time. Part of the reason it was failing in the last few years was because it was being done wrong. They would have one cheerleader with a "W" sign on the south side, another with an "Y" in the middle, and a "O" on the north side. So you would only have people in front of those signs yelling that letter. You have to have the entire side yell W-Y-O.

From what I understand, the cheerleaders knew what to do (and how to do it right) but were told by the in-game marketing department at UW to do it like it is done in the AA! Hilarious! Whomever was running the in game experience / marketing back then, didn't understand how it was supposed to work, and that was why it failed when it was tried! I bet it works this time...

I will do my best to educate those around me and Yell to get it going!

W Y O (Ugh)

Billings, how about paying attention to your fantasy football team? We ended up with 16 teams and then you don't even manage your team?!
