VOREL LEAVING

Sad to see him go. He did a fantastic job covering the teams. I guess covering the Cowboys is the minor leagues until you get called up to something bigger and better.
There it is. I was wondering who would be the first to use this as a way to degrade Wyoming athletics.
Why is this degrading?

In an otherwise terrific day for me I come home to this awful news.

Mike Vorel delivered unprecedented UW coverage during the short time he was here. He was a major league talent who poured his heart and soul into doing what he has a passion for - writing about UW athletics.

What distinguished Vorel was his relentless pursuit of delivering news stories seemingly every day - I wondered when the guy actually slept.

He separated himself with his style, his coverage, his exhaustive research, he was and is head and shoulders above anyone else on the Cowboys beat.

This is a huge loss for the CST - and the next guy in line has enormous shoes to fill.

I am genuinely saddened by this news.

Vorel wins in this process by heading to a bigger paper and market.

We as Wyoming fans are the ones who lose.

Best of luck to Mike.

Add me to the list of people who sadly knew this day was coming soon. Mr. Vorel is immensely talented and we will be hearing much more from him in the years to come. I appreciate his commitment to high quality coverage of Wyoming sports and will greatly miss him.

Yeah, what the hell are you talking about? Of course he's going to have a bigger audience and make more money covering the ND football beat as opposed to the Wyoming beat (and be closer to family to boot). That's not denigrating Wyoming, that's just facts.

I asked him on Twitter quite a while ago when he slept. He said, "June and July."

Come on guys. All I was saying is it seems like all of the Trib's beat writers depart for greener pastures when they get the chance. In no way was I taking a swipe at the Pokes. Yeesh.

+1.

I gotcha. It's simple for media members. The bigger the audience the better. Casper Star is not reaching what a Notre Dame football beat writer in the South Bend Tribune is getting.
