Should help fill the coffers
Of both the athletic department and the State Highway Patrol.

?

WHP is going to benefit...from having alcohol being controlled within the stadium, and no re-admittance? I doubt it. If anything, it should cut down on binge drinking as it is currently practiced.

Hopefully we can get some good food in the stadium too.

No doubt about that. They need concessions to be on their A game, with quality, variety, speedy service, etc., or it will just piss people off to no end...I have my reservations about that as well.

Hopefully our AD is proactive and designates a section or 2 as "family zones". I have a feeling that there will be at least a few fans more reluctant to attend the game with alcohol being sold, hopefully our AD can create incentives to not keep them away. We need all fans, drunk or sober, in the stands and enjoying themselves on Saturdays

I honestly think there are way more fans that don't attend games because they want to drink a beer while they watch the game, not just outside in the parking lot.

It is funny to see this story posted by state news outlets on Facebook. The comments are full of people complaining about how the University is now encouraging drunk driving and how they shouldn't allow any alcohol since people under 21 are in attendance. Must be BYU fans.

Oh I agree, this will definitely encourage some of those sitting on the fence to actually go to the game. But on the other end, this can potentially make some people choose to stop attending. I was just proposing how the AD can keep those people from no longer coming to games

Yeah, the best comments we're the people saying that it would lead to underage drinking in the stadium, like they'll just sell beer to anyone without i.d. or there won't be 2000 security guards watching the student section to see if anyone is passing beer to underage students. In addition, name one student that can afford to get drunk on 8 dollar beers all night? Students bring booz in, always have and still will. They can't afford stadium beer.

The other main argument is that it will fill the roads with drunks. Guess what, anyone that wants to get drunk at Wyoming games today, leaves the stadium drunk. When I was a raging drunk, I never left a Wyoming game sober, ever: in 20 years. I don't drink anymore, but I managed to get drunk at every Wyoming game I ever went to, without booze being sold. Not selling beer at the stadium doesn't safeguard Wyoming from drunk drivers, it just ensures that people have to smuggle their booz in, or leave to get more drunk and then come back.

These are the same people that bitched about the matching funds for athletics. Now that we opened up a new revenue stream by selling beer at games, they're bitching about how it will lead to underage drinking and dangerous roads.

You're never going to change the anti-athletics crowd. They'll always find a reason to bitch.

I wonder if they'll somehow have a limit.. like three beer limit or some such.
I'm guessing that at what they will probably charge, nobody will be able to afford more that that. So get drunk BEFORE you get to the game.

I wonder if the wildcatter and the people with big RVs will be able to re-entry.

The cops will have plenty to do, like make sure someone under the age of 21 doesn't take a sip of someone's beer. Be like the ole sweetwater county fair, stand in line to get wrist band, stand in line to get tickets, stand in line to trade tickets for beer

I'm all for it and it's about time, whatever controls they need to place on it so be it. For those that aren't for it, then you don't need to partake, I'm ok with it cuz it'll only add a bit more revenue that wasn't currently there that they always complain about, there you go no matter how small it is, some is better than none

So, you are predicting nothing will change then?

I want to personally congratulate those people that sit on the west side of the stadium. Tell them what they've won.

You've won, the ability to stand in line at a bunch of ass jammed concessions and a couple of extra trips to the Buckhorn inspired piss fume inhalation chambers. May your trips to the piss troughs be frequent and joyful. ;)

Hopefully, this will kick the west side renovation timeline up a little bit.

I can't believe that there are any complaints about this (not just complaints on here but comments to news articles and such). It is like damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I'll be happy to donate to the University with $7 beers or whatever they end up at. I'll be happy to stay in the stadium at halftime and watch the band with a cold one. I'll be happy to buy a beer for the guy next to me after Wyoming scores a big touchdown. This was a big step in the right direction to engage the fans.
