Just watch and listen to Adams.....

I can understand being down or upset. But he was down right pissed off in that interview. Was there something else going on that we don't know of? Did he not agree with sitting the second half or something?

If you watched the game and listened to his comment you know exactly what he was pissed about. There were multiples times where WYO players quit on a play. Josh Adams does not quit on plays and I suspect he disdains those that do.

This is his senior year and he put in the work to be a great player. I am sure he is pissed that some of his teammates did not appear to care as much as he did. The choice of who sat at the podium was probably not an accident. Dalton didn't play well, but he seemed to want it. Marshall did as well. Didn't see the same level of effort from some others.

I'll just move aside now and let the basketball junkies have their say...was that Ft Knox, or Ft. Lewis?

Shyatt happens!

And Bohl and the mighty football team showed great promise against the sheep today!! :willybs: At least they'll be competing for the coveted Charmin Toilet Paper Bowl in 4 years right?

I dunno what the big deal is with the exhibition game today. Sure I'm surprised they lost, but it's a completely meaningless game that Shyatt and co. treated like a scrimmage. I don't think hardly anyone is expecting a repeat of last year, or anything even close. This is a young, young team, thats gonna go through growing pains this year. I'm excited to see what these guys can do, and really really excited to watch Adams put up 40+ potentially a couple times this year while being the senior leader for this young group. I will be absolutely astonished however if the basketball team stoops anywhere near the historic lows that the football team craps out week in and week out, but anyone who wants to come in and beat their chest every time the basketball team loses, bring it on! :D
I'm with you on most everything you said, but Shyatt's teams rarely score 40, much less an individual player.

What percentage of UW games during Shyatt's tenure have finished with Wyoming scoring over 40 points? You might be surprised.

Being out of position on rebounding was my biggest concern in this game. Part of that is due to the defensive strategy being used, but when a shorter team out rebounds us, something is wrong. I'm sure our coaches will correct this in short order.

Yeah let's not try to make something out of nothing. We just lost to a D-II team, Adams is a highly emotional player. Of course he's going to be annoyed, angry, distracted during a press conference he doesn't want to be involved in.

I know I'll get shit on for saying this.

I like the direction of the program, I like Shyatt (but not as much as many others do), and this team does have some very exciting, projectable, young talent, that will take some time (years) to jell.

That said I maintain that last year's Cinderella run through the MWC Tournament was an aberration of sorts, and that last year's team was not the best overall team talent wise in the conference (not close) -- in fact as I said last year, I thought they were a middle of the pack team in the MW.

They got hot at the right time and I was thrilled for it, but never did I believe that team was as good as the championship they happened to win.

This season I expect them to struggle through growing pains, and they'll be fortunate this season to finish with a CBI invite in my opinion.

Bombs now coming in 3...2...1

I'm just going to start off that this is coming from the guy that started the Larry Nance is over rated thread last year. That was not some Cinderella moment that you like to claim. That was a moment over due for the pokes since Shyatt returned to Laramie. We were 19-4 with a 8-2 MWC record and we were in first place in the league heading into February. Nobody wanted to play us until our yearly set back sank in.

We were a 19-4 team without any good wins and loses in all our big games to date, with a full team. Although tied for first, SDSU had already won in Laramie and possessed that tie-breaker. It really was a Cinderella moment. There's nothing wrong with that. We were heading to the CBI last year before the MW tournament. And if one or two plays go a different way, JMacs miracle bank shot, Adams step-back, contested corner 3, we have a much different season than what we did.

But that's what makes the game great.

I'm going to disagree with it being a Cinderella moment. As long as Nance was healthy we were right there at the top of the MWC (we did lose to SDSU at full strength, but we had beaten BSU the other first place team. Including the MWCT we were 3-2 against the regular season co-champs, 3-1 with Nance).

We were not going to make the NCAA without the MWCT due to OOC SOS, but there is nothing "Cinderella" about one of the best teams in the conference winning the MWCT. With a healthy Nance, we deserved to be considered one of the favorites.

Slightly different direction here. I don't know that anyone's projections for this year's team based on his or her characterization of last year's team is particularly accurate.

What I do know is that the best Poke team I've seen, played Patrick Ewing and the Hoyas to a standstill in the ncaa's. Fenis, ya'll were pretty darn good, too, beating Reggie miller and the Bruins was awesome.

Anyway, tubs, garnett and Ollie were incredibly fun. They weren't very good their first year, maybe the second too. My friend bruce, RIP, knew hoops - he kept saying these guys will be good, enjoy watching them learn. Bruce was right, by the end of their run those guys played good, team basketball, beat byu and danny ainge in 3X OT, and scared the poop out of john thompson when the hoyas were at their best. This year's poke team compares to tubs et al at their freshman level...capable of playing and beating nebraska one night, but losing to d2 the next. Perhaps by the end of this season, we'll again be the team no one wants to play - we might be now, given the way josh can take over a game. Watching shyatt put the pieces together ought to be fun.

BTW, happy Veteran's day, many thanks!

We were the only team to win at CSU and Fresno. I call those good wins. I wouldn't say we dominated the conference, but I believe we were the best team in the conference when healthy.

I remember being chastised severely last year when I said it was hilarious where they had us ranked at media days before last season. I had picked us to finish in the top 3. Even with Herndon and Nance going down with mono, we showed everyone who picked us low that they were waaaay off. There is somewhat of a reason we are ranked 8th this year, but I don't think we will end that low.
