I'll just move aside now and let the basketball junkies have their say...was that Ft Knox, or Ft. Lewis?

Shyatt happens!

Last season Oregon State lost to D2 Western Oregon in their exhibition.
Time to panic right?
The Beavers ended up 17-10, and had a win over #6 Arizona.

Beavs ended up 15-2 at home, and at one point were 16-7 on the season before the wheels fell off and finished 1-7.

The D2 exhibition doesn't matter, it doesn't count.
It's all about the coaches seeing what they have and messing with lineups and seeing how the players play with eachother.

With that said, I am a little taken back by the Pokes defense giving up points, and the offense not producing.

Sky is not falling, but the team is not going to be great. I still think this team has a great chance to make some noise this year.

Does anybody here give a flying fuck about the Oregon state beavers

Hey numb nuts, this post wasn't about the Beavers.
It was about a D1 team losing to a D2 team in an exhibition and proving the season wasn't lost.

"But the team is not going to be great."

"I still think this team has a great chance to make some noise this year."

Which one? You claim they won't be great -- then you follow up by stating that they can make noise this year.

Stop confusing me.

Well not what I was expecting have to give props to Ft. lewis they shot lights out and I would not mind having a couple of their players in the brown and gold. I don't think the sky is falling in the least bit. If Shyatt gave two shits about winning this game he would have actually scouted them and played Josh the entire game. Anyway not saying we should have lost but I have seen Shyatt coached teams struggle with black hills st. one week then knock off a #11 unlv team the next. Exhibition games don't mean shit expect a much different team come Friday.

You write an entire post about Oregon state and then write the post wasn't about them? No one thinks the season is lost because we lost an exhibition game. I'm glad you are here to reassure us. Talk about obtuse.....

2007. Michigan State dropped their exhibition game. Finished the season 27-9, and made it to the Sweet 16.

2009. Syracuse dropped their exhibition game. Finished the 09-10 season 30-5, Big East Champs, was a #1 seed, and made it to the Sweet 16.

2014. Syracuse dropped another exhibition game. Finished 18-13. Likely would have been in the NIT but had a post-season ban.

Lol, okay then. :thumb:

First off, the first half of the post was about the Beavers losing an exhibition game and the season ending up decently.
If you want to bitch and moan and say I am just talking about the Beavers, go ahead, it doesn't really matter to me.

And Bohl and the mighty football team showed great promise against the sheep today!! :willybs: At least they'll be competing for the coveted Charmin Toilet Paper Bowl in 4 years right?

I dunno what the big deal is with the exhibition game today. Sure I'm surprised they lost, but it's a completely meaningless game that Shyatt and co. treated like a scrimmage. I don't think hardly anyone is expecting a repeat of last year, or anything even close. This is a young, young team, thats gonna go through growing pains this year. I'm excited to see what these guys can do, and really really excited to watch Adams put up 40+ potentially a couple times this year while being the senior leader for this young group. I will be absolutely astonished however if the basketball team stoops anywhere near the historic lows that the football team craps out week in and week out, but anyone who wants to come in and beat their chest every time the basketball team loses, bring it on! :D

I remember all of these especially that 2009 Syracuse team that lost their exhibition. I'm not worried about us losing this game. I will be worried if we get our butts kicked by Indiana St. to start the year.

Your a complete dipshit, so this post wasn't about the beavers. Well then lets begin. The beavers lost to Western Oregon. Then the beavers ended up 17-10. Then the beavers beat Arizona. Then the beavers ended up 15-2 at home. Then the beavers were 16-7. Then the beavers wheels fell off and finished 1-7. AGAIN WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK ABOUT THE OREGON STATE BEAVERS.

3 takeaways for me:

FLC shot lights out. Good game for them

Trey Washington needs to be starting over JMac

Our defense was as porous as I have ever seen a Shyatt coaches team.

Agreed on everything, except for the moment I'd have Trey starting over Lieberman just because a lineup of Adams, Washington, and Lieberman puts us with 3 guys on the floor under 6'2. Also I think McManamen's gonna have a lot better games than he did tonight, but if we do start someone else over him, I expect it to be Marshall, or maybe James someday if he gets healthy and proves he belongs in the starting rotation.

TW3 over Lieberman makes sense too. I really like what I saw from Morris Marshall too. He would be an option to start as well. I know it's one game, but JMac looked very uncomfortable tonight....

We have to hit threes at some point under Shyatt don't we!?!?!?

Another vote for TW3 over Lieberman here. I thought JMac looked fine except he couldn't make a shot.

More Marshall, More Trey, More Naughton

Less Lieberman, Less Dalton

Hopefully Justin James can contribute
