Took some time off Wyonation...

There are a lot of things that aren't working right now. I'm of the mindset that as a fan there is absolutely nothing I can control with how this season progresses. No need for the emotional investment at this point. This season will be more about watching the team from an analytical standpoint and truly seeing if any progress was made game to game. If we still look like we are in neutral by UNLV, there may be some very deep set issues that no coaching staff can resolve.

I still can't believe how stunned and shocked into silence the ticket agent who called me to renew season tickets before last season was when I told her that I'm not renewing and won't until we are a winning program. There was a very long pause, because she didn't know how to respond to people who don't eat up pumped sunshine. "But, Coach Bohl," she said. "But, I heard the same thing with Glenn and Christensen," I said.

Absolutely, though the analytical attitude is gong to have last well beyond this season.

But, in any event, you're right. There's no point in getting emotionally invested at this point.

Since the Vic K era I believe Cowboy Joe Glenn has the highest winning percentage at a blistering 42% clip. In my higher math skills Bohl is at 40%.

We certainly need to give the man 4-5 years to see if he's worth a shit, my old man coached w\ Eaton & Shurmur. He was very concrned w\ on field performance and commented to me " bush league" after witnessing half of the game on Saturday before shutting down the broadcast. Man, how many times do we retool before we get the right guy? My fears have come full circle. I wanted Burman gone, DC and his senior year w/ Smith before the next selection. But, I stay by the logic we can't let go of this nightmare until we get a new President and AD in....then we have a more detailed approach in finding new answers, coupled w\ requisite time to see if Bohl is just smoke and mirrors.

DC actually had a slightly higher winning percentage than Glenn.

We know Bohl is not smoke and mirrors, based on coaching history. The question is more...Does Bohl have a true formula and system for success (including good recruiting), or did he just strike the recruiting jackpot for a 2 year stint at NDSU that brought 4 straight titles. I personally think its the first scenario, but time will tell.

Against far worse opponents, what is the number?

Bohl is 4-10. 4-8 last year and 0-2 this year. That translates to a winning percentage of 28.5 percent. If is record was 4-6, that would be a winning percentage of 40. Next week, we'll work on adjectives and adverbs.

DC had a .435 winning percentage compared to Glenn's .42 percentage. It is arguable who had the tougher schedule, but I do tend to lean towards Glenn having the tougher schedule. DC had to play a national title runner up and BYU was not a great team during some of Glenn's early years. The Mwc was also a Bowl Cup champion twice during the DC era compared to once in the Glenn era. However, Glenn actually beat big time programs. Point being I would take Glenn over DC and Bohl. Just wish he had DCs ability to recruit a QB. Playing the What if game I would have also liked to see Brett Smith and DC together for BS's senior year.

I don't think we'd be having this conversation if we had Brett Smith and Bohl together for a year.

10-4 Marcus. My argument really is around the point we've struggled since Moon let Tiller walk. Changing coaching staff every 4-5 years hasn't worked well for us at all. Sorry on the math, long day at the abacus factory.

Would have liked to see that too. Pretty depressing to see where we are at. The one thing our University hasn't tried is keeping a coach for 7+ years so I guess it is worth a shot and on paper Bohl seems like a good fit, although this years team isn't building much confidence for the future.

As I wrote on Sunday in the blog, 63 underclassmen. Some universities could overcome this, but we are not Florida State or USC.. so we are forced to play the waiting game while these guys mature into division 1 athletes physically and mentally.

I enjoyed the blog, good stuff. And I know the numbers are accurate. But...

I am not / was not, looking for Wyoming to be the MWC champs this year in football (my prediction was 4 wins, and 6 years to right the ship - which I was chastised for - LMAO). But the level to which we have sunk is just astonishing. We are not even competitive against arguably the 2 worst opponents we have faced (at home) in a long, long time. Not even competitive, as in we were out-classed at every aspect of both games.

Good 'ol Bohly should have been recruiting D1 athletes that are physically and mentally able to compete all along. A few projects, or "Derek Cooke" types are fine...but when the roster is full of them, that won't get it done in Wyoming (and most D1 FBS programs) like it would have at NDSU. My opinion only - but the recruit and develop for 3 - 4 years thing may not work in Wyoming. Paul Roach believed that - his rosters were full of JC's (part thanks to Erickson). Tiller knew that as well. And further, times have changed. If a player is on a roster for 4 or 5 years these days in D1 FBS - it is damn near a miracle. The transfer game, the instant - gratification generation, the fuck-it-I-quits, etc., have wrecked havoc.

Interesting. Does anyone know where we could track down some old rosters and find out where our players transfered from? Might be interesting to look at a bit closer.
