I figured Barnes didn't play much Sunday because of the match up. Barnes will definitely see time against NM STATE and MWC foes. Northern Colorado played with a smaller line-up Barnes and Sellers can be the guys who wear down the middle then Nance and DC go on their dunkfest
Did he says Barnes will play, or simply that he's not redshirting? I can't remember shyatts exact wording, but I remember it sounded kinda funny live. Also does any one know if gorski is ready to go? I'd rather he get some playing time now if he's needed at all on Saturday.
But I agree, there's no need for any of the starting 5 to play 30+ minutes tonight. Cowgirls had everyone with double digit minutes, let's see what the boys do

I assume Gorski will still be out? With Williams redshirting and Washington out, should be able to see significant minutes for the other bench guys tonight.
Western State gave Weber a pretty solid game in Ogden for an exhibition, so this won't be the equivalent of the girls game, but I still expect the Pokes to take care of business in a way that will allow the bench to see plenty of time.

Hmm... That is the question. Shyatt seems to emphasize defense, so that may be where he is weakest. You don't have to be a scoring machine on offense to be an important contributor, but you do need basketball smarts - know when to pass, screen, move, etc. Let our on-site forum members watch him closely if he gets in and report.

He said Barnes would play this year, as I recall. I was hoping Jonathan would redshirt, for a couple of reasons. I'm guessing that Papa Shy's comment about trusting JB on one end, but not the other has to do with comfort level, fundamentals and learning curves on the offensive end. Many comments of high praise for Barnes by people who have watched him practice and know the game. No better way of learning than being on the floor against real competition with the lights on. Very interested in how Coach plays things tonight.cali2wyo said:

Yeah, pretty sure I heard him say that he would play, but that he might not play every night. It wasn't specifically about Barnes, but about a number of bench players (maybe the freshmen?) I'll see if I can find it.POKE FAN said:
