Sawvel blames COVID for the 2-10 season.
Fits WYO perfectly. AD and some fans are quick to point to false excuses for accepting mediocrity. Why should PBJ be held to a higher standard?![]()

Solid first post - and reasonable. More posts needed!Howdy, folks. New member here. I’ve been lurking off and on for quite awhile. I finally decided to join as a member.
I attended the Idaho and BYU games. I came away shocked that a UW football team could be so unprepared and uninspired.
I may not know what coaches or ADs could be better but those currently in place are not getting the job done. They have got to be replaced. I advocate for replacing Burman first and let the new AD hire the next head coach.
Rumor reported by others here suggests he turned it down. McPeachy has some insight on this.Just throwing this out there: I know he wasn’t highly popular at Wyoming but Brent Vigen has MSU at 12-0. I think his overall record as head coach is 44-9.
Interesting. Wasn’t for money then. He could have made 5x more money at UW.Rumor reported by others here suggests he turned it down. McPeachy has some insight on this.

I did not know that. Thank you filling me in.I think it had something do with Bohl Jr.

There's a few schools of thought on this board. I personally think junior's promotion was a major criteria for the hiring process. Some think it might of been a consideration but relatively insignificant. Some think it was totally irrelevant and was not a factor at all.I did not know that. Thank you filling me in.
I didn’t like the feeling in a similar situation involving the Shyatt son. There's a few schools of thought on this board. I hope the new legislature forces an investigation.
What's sad is the our AD, who is making $550,000 a year, had so little clue about the actual coaching capabilities of either Edwards or Sawvell that he just took the word of the previous head coach (Shyatt and Bohl) in making the decision. And both of the people he hired were working in the same facilities he was.I didn’t like the feeling in a similar situation involving the Shyatt son.
Regardless of how Burman states the Bohl and Shyatt hires worked out, this is a fact: The sons were retained and given promotions under assistants promoted to head coach.
I have no knowledge to question if there were any back office deals made or not, but I do know everything is subject to negotiation. It’s how the business works.
Even if everything is completely legit, it just has the look and feel something influenced the decision making process. When the L’s pile up, it makes ponying up for hires like this less palatable.
Based on Burman's history with coaches, there is zero chance he does anything. In fact, there is very little chance he does anything next year either. Sad.Well, we are two days away from finding out if anyone at UW has the balls to do what is right and oust Sawvel and/or Burman.
I haven’t watched this team play since the Idaho game. I have checked the score line and sometimes watched highlights. I won’t even do that if Sawvel is still the coach next year.
I understand what you are saying, but Sawvel is on a different level of bad. He has not done one single thing on an even average level since taking over the program.Based on Burman's history with coaches, there is zero chance he does anything. He hasn’t made a statement because the idea of firing a coach after his rookie season hasn’t even crossed his mind. Perhaps some assistants are gently nudged to go elsewhere but nothing big will happen. If it does, it’ll be more surprising than Wyoming coaches making QB changes when it’s obvious.I understand what you are saying, but Sawvel is on a different level of bad. I am encouraged by the fact Burman has basically been silent about Sawvel’s future. I think if he planned to keep him, he would have released some sort of statement of support by now. If for no other reason than to see how the statement goes over with the fan base and donors.
I think there is a good chance that Sawvel is gone come Monday. The sad thing is that we are even having a debate about it. It should be a foregone conclusion.
