Thoughts on the game

1. Offensive line play was unacceptable. AF was able to get pressure on ACS with three guys, let alone when they sent the blitz. The penalties? WTF? Well, lets just say I'm glad I'm not an o-lineman these next two weeks. It's going to be VERY unpleasant for them.

2. ACS did not play well, but then again just about every QB in america would not play well under that kind of pressure. Still, he needs to hit Brandon Stewart on that blown coverage. He also started targeting David Leonard on some passes, although I don't know if that's because he was the only guy moderately open.

3. Give credit to Air Force's defense. There was just nothing there for Wyoming today.

4. The wide receivers are what they are. Against a good secondary, with pressure like today? No one's open.

5. Outstanding job, defense, given the circumstances. You just hoped they could hold out as long as possible.

6. This reminded me a lot of last year's game, but this year you hoped hte offense did somethign good, whereas last year you just hoped the offense didn't do something bad.

7. Progress is being made - last year it was a 24-0 loss at home, this year a 10-0 loss on the road.

8. The team is 4-3 right now. Unfortunately, the schedule gets a hell of a lot tougher from here on out. I hope they can pull two wins out, but its going to be very very tough.

Being at the game all i can say is that was the worst game i have ever watched stewart had a touchdown easy but he was running out of bounds and the penalties killed us

If that was the worst game you've watched, you haven't paid attention in the last few years of Cowboys football. We didn't turn the ball over more than once to the best turnover margin team in the whole nations (they had +2.66 turnovers per game before this game), and with a little bit of luck, we could have grabbed one of those three fumbles we forced.
Defense was overall very good, but obviously they were completely out of breath towards the end, and I don't blame them. When the other team keeps kicking you in the teeth all day long, and your offense gets off the field fast, then it's rather tough.

Offensively, the penalties killed us as much as anything else. Had we taken just half of all those penalties, we would have been in the game. I'd like to see us throw more, but nobody was open all game long, pretty much. We really need a fairly speedy tight end (i.e. under 5.20 40, unlike what we have now) who can get open for the short safe completions. When your tight end can't get open at all, you're in trouble... big time.

Credit the loss to the offensive line (truly offensive). If I were DC, I would pit the #1 Defense against #1 offense the next 2 weeks with all out blitzes...because that's what were gonna see the rest of the year. We have been exposed!

The wind was a real factor. I was shocked at how cold it was! But when We were into the wind, Austin couldn't get any zip on the ball.

I have felt that our OL is slow. A quick defensive front like AF gives them fits on pass blocking. But I was surprised we couldn't ram it down their throats a little more. Our running backs don't run with much power or break many tackles. But I guess neither of them have the size to be a power back.

I was very hopeful for a win today. Now it really gets tough. I think it's a perfect time for a week off. The freshmen probably need a break.

Year after year I'm surprised at how athletic AF is compared to us. They were the quicker team by far. They had players who could break big plays. Sadly, we don't have anyone with that ability right now. The short passing game doesn't work very well unless you at least have a threat to go over the top once in a while.

It could have been a better throw, but I also think Stewart could easily have kept his feet in bounds and reached out and caught the ball.

I agree we will see a lot of blitzes the rest of the way. In the second half, I don't think ACS ever had more than 1 second to look downfield before he had to run for his life. I give the AF defense credit though - look what they did with TCU and what TCU is doing to CSU.
