This weekend will go a long ways in showing us if we're a better football team or if it's more of the same?

I think the offensive PI non-call on the Fusker receiver was huge. It was an obvious penalty. Killed momentum. That and the Mulhardt drop pick 6. I swear we haven't been that lucky in a decade. Ball just fluttered into the Fusker DB's hands.

I agree that Wyoming needs to look like the better team from start to finish. I don't want to see something like Wyoming gets up 24-7 and then a couple big turnovers and a missed FG and its 24-21 in the 4th. I want to see a good complete game from Pokes until the final seconds tick off.

Frankly, I don't think this weekend shows us much of anything. An NAIA school put up 650+ yards up against UC-Davis.

I agree as far as it won't tell you much if anything about your ceiling, but it can tell you a lot about your floor. If this game is a struggle, that will not bode well for conference play. Come on Pokes get it done.

Howdy fellas, Aggie here. Not going to make the trip to Laramie, but hope to stream the game from home. Certainly you guys are big favorites this weekend. But I would not hang my hat on the yards that S. Oregon put up on the Ags. Once we were up there were a lot of substitutions and S. Oregon has a big play offense with a very capable QB. I think the Aggie faithful are a bit more optimistic this year since it has been a struggle for us in Dl after being on top of the game in Dll. While S. Oregon ran up 600+, the Ducks were 100 yards less, and the Ags were in that game for quite a long time. I think one factor that is certainly going to rain on our parade is the altitude, but I hope we keep it competitive and both teams get out of it without any injuries. Go Ags!

I was skeptical about this considering UCD trailed after the first quarter but the numbers actually bear it out. The SOU yardage by quarter against UCD was 135-128-112-244 by my math.

Wyoming wins 61-0, I guarantee we start seeing 8-4/9-3 and MW championship talk. 28-27...we're back to hoping for 5-7. UCD is the worst team Wyo will play all year. A narrow home win wouldn't bode well for future games.

That said, again...3-1 is the early goal. But those next 3 wins would be tough to come by if Wyo struggles with *those* guys.

Good teams smash average FCS opponents. Time to prove Wyoming is a good team.

Good teams smash average FCS... Like Oregon giving up 28 points to them in Autzen?

Our team has proved to be more athletic on D this year... But we still have yet to stop anybody. We've given up 34 and 52 points. I would hope we blow these guys out, but I'm not counting on it. I think we win. But closer than most are expecting.
The Big Sky is doing its thing again this year and that is giving FBS teams fits. EWU beats Wash St. Cal Pol loses in Ot to Nevada and so far UC Davis competed with Oregon.

Why are we all of a sudden world beaters and people expect us to blow these guys out?

If it happens and we blow these guys out, then great! It would be a good win and a confidence booster for our D, if it doesn't and we still win. We are 2-1 and our confidence still rises with work that still needs to be done.

As long as Pokes win and get through this game healthy, I'll be content. Sure it'd be nice to win a game by 20+ points, but I'm not sure that's going to happen very often the way we play.

All that matters at the end of the day is if the game is a W or a L. A 61-0 win counts just the same as a 28-27 win.
Just want you guys to know that I found myself feeling differently about this statement earlier today during my alma mater's game. We were tied 14-14 at halftime to a team that hadn't scored a point yet this season. We ended up winning by 24, but I was disappointed with the performance...then I thought about what I wrote here, and how wrong I was.

Sorry guys...

Thankfully Wyoming didn't feel the same today!

It's weird when a win doesn't suffice. For example, today Oregon State beat Idaho State 37-7. Defense forced 5 turnovers, but I know some Beaver fans who can't get over the fact that the offense looked sluggish. Only scored 30 of the 37 points. QB had below average numbers, RB was bottled up. All by a team that lost 7-56 to Colorado and 8-80 to UNLV last year. ISU would qualify as a below-average FCS opponent.

So we'll have to disagree with Herman Edwards. In college ball, sometimes more is expected than just to win the game. No Wyoming fan can convince me that winning 23-22 would feel just as good as 45-22.
