We're turning into Washington Husky fans. They have a running joke..."it's okay, nothing's wrong, 20XX will be special".
Fuck...I remember a few years ago we thought by 2015 DC would have the program at a point where it would be a top contender annually. I'm not advocating for FCS like SD is, but he's right...he has facts (about recent suckage) and everyone else has pom poms.
...but it's okay, 2018 will be special. Sorry, JMO....but "you're wrong because we're gonna be great in a few years!" isn't a solid argument.
It has nothing to do with being Washington Huskies fans...it has to do with the reality of building a program brick by brick and day by day. History?
I'll take Craig Bohl's recent history now imparted to our program and feel confident in it, patiently watching as the grass grows a little at a time.
The last few weeks it has been nice to see a lot of fans here coming to grips with the reality that building a program that has enduring success takes time and effort.
Let me be more blunt:
ANYONE WHO IS PAYING ATTENTION TO WINS AND LOSSES AT THIS STAGE OF THE DEVELOPMENTAL PROCESS IS A MORON WHO HAS NOT AN OUNCE OF UNDERSTANDING ABOUT HOW TO BUILD ANYTHING - MUCH LESS A CFB PROGRAM.
Crawl.
Walk.
Run.
You set out to do something.
You took over a destitute and on its back football program the moment you assumed the role.
You chart your course.
You stay with it.
You don't abandon the plan when things go slow or the seas are choppy, and it appears to an outsider that progress is not being made. Anyone at the helm who deviates so early into a long term plan I don't want leading my program. I want my leader to have confidence in his long range forecast. You don't allow outside influences like nutty and reactionary people on this board to alter your course - you don't let newspaper stories budge you off your well thought out plan. You stay with it - you trust the process.
How many times prior to this season did I tell people that if you were going to judge this season strictly on wins and losses you might as well not even watch any of the games? If any of you think this season will be defined by the final cosmetic record you're as moronic as the dope who wrote the letter to the Boomerang.
WE ARE NOT A GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM YET if being good is defined by you as winning more than losing. Get this through your thick heads and maybe allowing yourself to understand the process of building a football team - or anything else - will become easier for you.
As to the past it is exactly that - and it is not an indicator that things will always remain on the negative side no matter what factual information over a 20 year period indicates. You think Bohl gives a rats ass about anything that occurred before he walked into the room?
I'd love to know how some off you lead your own lives and if your fatalist attitude when it comes to our football program along with your stunningly stupid near term expectations - if this all translates to the way you go about your own personal lives when you are confronted with a host of issues. When you get hit do you hit back? When you get knocked down do you not get back up? When someone doubts you and says you can't do that -- do you simply shrug your shoulders and concede defeat?
I talk about
'building' quite often, and as a fan of the Rockies, I recently found a story online from the Denver Post concerning the Pittsburgh Pirates organization that I believe might clue some people in on how a process of building a perennial loser into a consistent winner works. The organization is the Pittsburgh Pirates. For comparison sake's if we're talking about a 20 year run of losing, instability, changing leadership positions, and a downtrodden fan base with the appearance of no light and the end of the tunnel - I suggest you read through this piece:

Apparently
'insanity' didn't work in Pittsburgh, and with their most recent personnel running baseball Op's they defied the history of the previous 20 years of futility. It's a great example of being realistic, trusting the process, ignoring the naysayers, being patient, and watching with pride as the bedrock built upon in year one then fosters continuing growth and consistency in the ensuing years.
Last time: Wins and losses all you care about at this juncture? Then I suggest you check back in 20017-18, because those are the years the program will rightfully be judged on it's cosmetic appearance in those two columns.
Until then, bitch away, with your insane and non-realistic spewing...you have no idea how ignorant you look.
