This game is on the coaches

After the "performance" against Colorado, I have questions about how this team performs on the road. Sure, CU is only one game, but the effort and preparedness were far below the team's efforts at home so far.

It's up to the coaches to make sure this team is ready to play on Saturday. I know its early, but this game will be a sign to see if this team can win on the road or is just "dangerous at home."

A team that can win on the road goes to a bowl game. A team "dangerous at home" is 4-8.

Coaching did take a hit, but CU FAU ain't. We're taking athletes that practice at 7200 feet down to sea level to play a poor Sun Belt team. This should be a win, not an easy win, but a sure win. This game will not be a good measuring stick for our team on the road unless we lose. A loss puts us down in the basement with NM and SDSU, a win does nothing but build confidence. This is going to be a very dangerous game. We have everything to lose and nothing to gain.

FAU often starts off slowly and gets better as the season goes on. Last season they started 1-5 only to go on and win a Bowl Game... if they start faster this year, this might get ugly.

Take a look at the South Carolina game - FAU played right up there with them, apart from the third quarter in which they fell apart. The same South Carolina team beat #4 Ole Miss (yeah, slightly overrated, but still) after the FAU game, and BARELY (41-37) lost to #21 Georgia the week before.

I honestly think FAU IS as "good" as CU, or quite likely, even better - and definitely FASTER. Before this season started, Cowboys fans predicted a loss in this game - why does everybody suddenly expect a win? FAU is only going to be a lot more hungry after choking last week because of poor clock management.

I don't mean to be a negative Nellie, but saying Cowboys have to play poorly to lose this game is simply not true. In all likelihood, they will have to bring their A-game to be able to win. Luckily, I think they will...

Could be in the 90's - both temperature and humidity. That should cancel out any altitude training. How does coaching prepare for those unaccustomed conditions?

I dont want to see Wyoming be a jeckyl and hyde team, where they are formidable at home but suck on the road - and that comes down to coaches getting their team ready to play. That's my big point here.

The Pokes in the past have generally done ok in the hot/humid locals. But they were usually early/mid sept when it would still be 75 degrees in Laramie. Now, they are playing in a 90 degree/90% humidity environment after practicing in 30-40 degree weather. We'll see. I just hope our kick-offs can get passed the 30!

Big difference between this game and the Colorado game in the fact that we had just played Texas and we had a major hangover. I do not think you will see that this game . This is a lot longer trip though and I would say Florida Atlantic is not a bad team . Wyoming will need for sure to bring their A game if they want to win this one . Florida Atlantic will have more speed than Wyoming at the skill positions .

If we play with focus and intensity and win the turnover battle like last week I think we have a great shot to win this game .

Here is where those "Cowboy tough practices and conditioning" will pay off. I'm not saying this game will be a win because of it, but it will sure help.
