The Powder Keg has blown

Now wait just a second .... are some of you saying that a BCS school would move to a non-BCS conference? You can't be serious, as John McEnroe would say.

When it is the lower tier BCS teams that know the only reason they were there in the first place was because of bigger and better school's who are deciding to leave them behind? yes, They need to find a place that fits them well enough to get back to where they want to be.

if perhaps OU, OSU, KU, KSU, ISU, TTU and Bay all stay together, who would they go for. Honestly, the MWC might be bypassed all together and the conference could and more than likley would go more regional and pick up Tulsa and Houston.
If they didn't want to go for that then they may come after Two Colorado schools, AFA and CSU, But the ties between the two and Wyoming are strong and Wyo could be pulled into a nice deal.
I have a feeling BYU is going to be happy living off their own tv revenue and I'm sure louisville will not leave a conference that makes them money in basketball more than football, especially when they wouldn't be guaranteed a good tv revenue with a new conference.

Hey, I'm just telling you what is running around the entire state right now. National media has kept it on the down low, but, local all through Kansas has been a buzz about A&M leaving and the probability each program would have going to other conferences. All the radio shows interviews everything has KU and KSU going to MWC. Some of the things I've heard explained is, The Kansas schools know that the MWC is an up and coming conference, and at some point that they would become BCS eligible, especially if the Big 12 disbanded. They know that SEC won't take either of them, the Big 10/12 won't come calling, neither can do independent. And neither with exception of Bill Self (KU Basketball) wants to be part of the Big East. And neither want to go as low as C-USA. MWC is a logical and perfect fit. There has even been talk of a Texas school taking the spot of TCU.
they already get crapped on for tv revenue from the Texas network. And The MWC won't be any worse than what they make now. Plus, MWC is adding Boise (practically all Idaho), Fresno (55th best rating in country), All of Nevada All Hawaii, and Then All of kansas and parts of Missou. That more than takes care of losing Utah and BYU. TCU did have Dallas/Ft. Worth, but not even 10% of that city are TCU fans and watched any of the games. But I would still like to get one Texas school to keep the tv revenue where it needs to be. And with all these new areas added, i'd say that each school might make another mill or two easy.
It is very probable Calpoke.

Care to link one credible media outlet reporting such rumors? How many radio shows do you listen to in Kansas and how do they represent the entire fanbases/administrations of those schools?

I quickly perused both the KU/KSU forums on Scout.com and found not a single thread regarding the MWC on the first pages. Their expansion threads seem to revolve around the idea of adding a team or two to keep the Big 12 alive, but I haven't found a single poster yet talking about joining the MWC.

Of course if the apocalypse occurs, the Big 12 completely disbands, the Big East is annihilated, and nothing else exists, certainly the MWC is the logical move for the Kansas schools.

You call it probable, I'll call it 0.1% of happening.

Rock M Radio 1370 Sports talk show. 93.5 Cat talk or something like that. 93.9 The buzzard, I'm not sure what it's called but it does KU sports. I'm not any good at posting links in this things, as you can tell i've never done it. Ever. Hell, i didn't even know I could watch Wyoming online until someone told me I could watch streams from Wyo2Dal, and even then I had to be talked through it. I'm just telling you what I've heard on radio in my tractor all day, everyday. I live in a tiny town so I don't know what the majority of fans think. And even if they did go MWC they would still probably be pissing and moaning.

Also i wouldn't take anything the fans around here say as credible. If there is one thing I've learned it's that KU and KSU fans are very egotistical. Both believe they will win championships every year in one sport or another. Both thought they were going to be 10 win + teams last year and going to BCS bowls, we all know how that turned out. So I could care less of what any of the fans say, it's whatcomes from the program itself.

+1 The same goes for whatever OU and Okie State and what their fans think/want. Learned that learn within months after moving here during the old Big 8 days in 1991.

Hell, with our luck the Big XII will just play as a 9-team league for a few more years just to keep the status quo going.

This is going to be fun to see how it all shakes out. But, the biggest loser here is TCU. I am laughing my ass off that TCU defected so quickly. If TCU hadnt of jumped, then they would have been a shoe in to the Big 12. HAHAHAHAHA...Fat Pat(erson) has egg on his face now.

My bet, Kansas, K-State join the MWC. But, where is poor Baylor going to go?

TCU would not have been a shoe-in. Texas has kept them out for years.

"Poor Baylor"!!!! LMFAO!!!! ;)

Forgot to write this. The only teams that might leave the conference, could be BSU (I don't know much about there loyalty. And SDSU, who wants to leave at some point, but no one will take them. I don't see Fresno or the Nevada school's leaving. And like I said in my above post, WYO, CSU. UNM, AFAhave all agreed tos stay together.

I've been reading how Boise State is considered a "one trick pony" (as in football only) that nobody really wants. I guess they are gelded broncos. Ouch!

This is gonna end the way it did last year. Thousands of rumors, and a large thud to end it all. The end of the world was near last year, and the only thing that happened was NU went to the Big-10, BSU to the MWC, and Utah/CU to the Pac-12. No doomsday scenario by any stretch of the imagination. I expect the same here.....I keep seeing rumor after rumor, but university officials coming forward one after another and dubbing it all bullsh!t. A&M will leave.....The Big-12 will stay at 9 teams.....we'll all go home.

I feel like I'm back in Hawaii and the tsunami sirens have gone off and everyone's panicking only to find out that nothing really happened.

 Best analogy of a situation I've seen in years! As they say in Hawaii....True Dat!

Makes me kind of miss Hawaii. Good times. Though hot as hell day and night. But having the ocean literally just down the street from the hotel kind of made up for that.

Don't blame me - I'm just the messenger. I only passed along what espn reported. They are supposed to be the "know it alls". They must be getting so worried about their competition, they are sensationalizing everything now.

Oh I'm not dishing out any blame WYCowboy! I appreciate the info you give us......I've just seen so much conflicting news that I'm a tad skeptical as to whether anything will actually happen.

Like I said......A&M will leave......the Big 9 will be born....we'll do this again next spring.

SEC presidents met today. They are content with the current 12-team format. A&M likely going nowhere.

Edit: Its official. A&M told to go f!ck themselves by the SEC.

Rampant speculation all to lead to nothing happening... we have seen the story before and we will see it again

Yeah, I learned to more or less stay out of the whole theories thing until something is actually announced. And now the Aggies look like jackasses for all the things that they said and did during all of this, only to end up crawling back to big poppa Texas to be molested later on tonight.

TAMU would have been better off keeping their intentions, and their mouths, shut if they wanted an invite to the SEC today. They did neither, and they're still in the Big 12 for the time being. Missouri saw this happen last summer.

Though really, unless aTm's Board and the Texas Board of Education or whatever says otherwise, it seems that the SEC is only putting expansion on hold until the Shmaggies get their shit in order.
