The Powder Keg has blown

espn has reported that Texas A&M has accepted an invite to the SEC. Other teams being mentioned are Florida State, Missouri, & Clemson. Who knows where it will end.

The Hair better be on the phone with every other team in the Big XII to convince them to come to the MWC. If any other team leaves with aTm Texas will bolt and the Big XII will go bye bye.

This is going to be fun to see how it all shakes out. But, the biggest loser here is TCU. I am laughing my ass off that TCU defected so quickly. If TCU hadnt of jumped, then they would have been a shoe in to the Big 12. HAHAHAHAHA...Fat Pat(erson) has egg on his face now.

My bet, Kansas, K-State join the MWC. But, where is poor Baylor going to go?

We could be left behind...this is not good news at all

A conference of:
CSU
Wyoming
New Mexico
Idaho
San Jose State
New Mexico State
Utah State
Texas State
UT-San Antonio
etc..

could very well happen, and would set us so far behind that we might never be able to recover...here is hoping that scenario does not enfold

I dont think that will happen. Teams will be coming to the MWC. I dont think we lose SDSU, Boise, Air Force. Air Force wont let that happen, and they wont leave.

So, you're thinking that the Air Force would be foolish enough to join a highly unstable Big 12? Air Force is a different type of animal than most other schools outside the Service Academies. Their football program would be alright, but they would be murdered in all other sports. They have sports to make a better officer, that's it.

It was quoted somewhere when everything went down before last season that Wyo, UNM, AFA, CSU would not leave one another. This isn't bad for the MWC at all. I don't see the MWC disbanding. I see it growing. I've already told you all that KU and KSU are really considering the option of MWC. Which the possibility is we might even get a texas team or two out of it as well. preferably, TTU and Baylor.

Forgot to write this. The only teams that might leave the conference, could be BSU (I don't know much about there loyalty. And SDSU, who wants to leave at some point, but no one will take them. I don't see Fresno or the Nevada school's leaving. And like I said in my above post, WYO, CSU. UNM, AFAhave all agreed tos stay together.

I think the MWC is in a fairly stable position. I don't think any of our teams would be under serious consideration anytime soon. I do NOT think though that the Kansas schools are thinking about the MWC right now. The MWC is the farthest thing from their minds. The Kansas schools will end up as a package deal in some BCS conference. If the MWC is to ever get any Big 12 leftovers I think its much more likely that would come from TTU, Baylor, or (hopefully not)ISU.

That's probably extreme. It is true that the Big 12 will likely poach a couple of schools from the MWC, but you have to figure that their top targets are BYU and Louisville (who has issued public denials..which means they are interested, ha!), followed by AFA and Houston.

I see the MWC losing a maximum of 3-4 schools and probably more like 1 or 0.

Even if the MWC lost 3 (say AFA, BSU, and UNM, just for giggles), then we add USU and SJSU.

The MWC would be weakened, but it wouldn't die and Wyoming would be fine (at least as fine as we are now, anyway).

Agreed.

I really don't think the Big 12 falls apart. I think they lose one (TAMU) or two (Mizzou as well) and then backfill with a couple of other schools (BYU and one of Louisville/Houston/AFA/random). That leaves the MWC pretty much at status quo, maybe losing one school.

If the shit hits the fan and the Big 12 does completely fall apart, then the BE will be in a position to pick up the KU/KSU/ISU group. The MWC will likely not have a chance at any Big 12 leftovers (maybe Baylor, but I am not sure they count).

I keep seeing this scenario for the MWC.

East

Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State
Baylor
Houston/Texas Tech
UTEP
Colorado State
New Mexico

West

Air Force
Boise State
Nevada
Fresno State
UNLV
San Diego State
Hawaii
Wyoming

Air Force is just a bit farther East than CSEwe.

But I'd rather see Wyoming in the East Division for more access to Texas recruiting, and I'm sure that CSEwe and Air Force would as well. All 3 do a LOT of recruiting in Texas.

Now wait just a second .... are some of you saying that a BCS school would move to a non-BCS conference? You can't be serious, as John McEnroe would say.

This just isn't realistic.

Hey, I'm just telling you what is running around the entire state right now. National media has kept it on the down low, but, local all through Kansas has been a buzz about A&M leaving and the probability each program would have going to other conferences. All the radio shows interviews everything has KU and KSU going to MWC. Some of the things I've heard explained is, The Kansas schools know that the MWC is an up and coming conference, and at some point that they would become BCS eligible, especially if the Big 12 disbanded. They know that SEC won't take either of them, the Big 10/12 won't come calling, neither can do independent. And neither with exception of Bill Self (KU Basketball) wants to be part of the Big East. And neither want to go as low as C-USA. MWC is a logical and perfect fit. There has even been talk of a Texas school taking the spot of TCU.
they already get crapped on for tv revenue from the Texas network. And The MWC won't be any worse than what they make now. Plus, MWC is adding Boise (practically all Idaho), Fresno (55th best rating in country), All of Nevada All Hawaii, and Then All of kansas and parts of Missou. That more than takes care of losing Utah and BYU. TCU did have Dallas/Ft. Worth, but not even 10% of that city are TCU fans and watched any of the games. But I would still like to get one Texas school to keep the tv revenue where it needs to be. And with all these new areas added, i'd say that each school might make another mill or two easy.
It is very probable Calpoke.

A KU fan on the MWC board seems to be saying about the opposite (other than the getting crapped on part) of what you're saying kansasCowboy. Not saying either one of you are wrong, but there is disagreement there.
