The BYU Hatred

Within my parents life time BYU and there church sponsors have preached that there religion and school “shall be a white and a delightsome people”. If people are going to be upset by tweets from 18 year old kids I’m not sure why BYU and the Mormon church should get a pass, since their’s is clearly an example institutional racism. Again no reason to play this school, especially when our school has had their own racist errors tied to this church school of magic underwear freaks.

I am LDS, hate BYU and always have and always will but I’m ashamed at how these threads turn into a bashing of my religion and tons of other die hard cowboy fans. Wyoming loses opportunities on some great LDS players because bigoted clowns like this make such hateful comments. It should be embarrassing to any respectful American and Wyoming’an.

Yeah. I have followed this board a long time but am tired of some of the posters hatred. I will be paying a monthly fee for my cowboy information from here out.

This is why it's not worth it to play BYU. It's just not worth it. :twocents:

It simply comes down to, they’ve kicked the shit out of us for too many years. We’re butt hurt about it and hate them because their fan base reminds us of how much we’ve sucked. As much as I hate them, we need to schedule them, kick the shit out of them and remind them how irrelevant they are in independence. We need to then win the MWC to prove to them that their choice of independence was stupid and they’ll never be able to win anything. I’m just scared to play them though because if we lose, dammit, I’ll have to listen to their shit for two years before we can do anything about it.

I don’t think we would hear derogatory posts about the Catholic Church if we were playing Norte dame, not the Methodist church if we played smu but every time we play byu it becomes a personal attack against the religion by some in this board.

It becomes vile for the wrong reasons. A rivalry between teams with history should be contentious and the fans shouldn’t be bff’s, but it should be about football.

It sucks we are wasting so much time talking about BYPyew www! when we have a big game coming up in two days that if we win will be huge for the program.

Lol this thread is absolutely hilarious. You've got one poster who's actually interested in looking for the facts. Then you've got the angry bunch that comes in and tells the story as they supposedly remember it, which basically starts with one real fact, then injects a bunch of BS, conjecture, and flat out lies.

Then the original poster tries to validate the BS story, can't find any actual facts to support.

Then OP gets accused of being a BYU apologist because he doesnt just blindly accept the hate (i.e. hate beyond just football rivalry hate).

OP has to defend his Wyoming fanhood by clarifying he hates BYU's guts.

A few more posters give their perspectives, but again there are no facts to back it up. Then a few guys pull out their tin foil hats and relate the conspiracy theory that there is no actual documentation of a lot of this stuff, but the grapevine says it's true??

Such an classic battle between logic/facts and BS/tall tales.

For what it's worth, I'm a BYU fan and don't hate you guys at all. Most of my adult life, BYU has been independent so I haven't been very familiar with Wyoming's program. After the Wyoming/BYU series was announced, I heard about the hate some (not all) Wyoming fans had for BYU, so I came to check it out. It's been entertaining. Some people hate just for the sake of hating. Doesn't seem healthy to me.

Anyway, like I said I have no hard feelings for Wyoming. I hope your program has great success. Go BYU :)

I’ll repost, here are facts from a Utah paper. I have no doubt BYU led the charge for this and at the expense of others (long time conference members) such as Wyoming, CSU and Air Force. You don’t have to believe it - I do. I’ve also seen the BYU message board and members there aren’t innocent in their hatred towards Wyoming, not to mention, some who possess the were better everyone else, especially the redneck Wyoming fans, attitude.

Did you even read the article? It doesn't incriminate BYU in any way. If anything, it points to USU as the school pushing for "the project", but even then it's very tame. Here's the breakdown for anyone too lazy to read the article:

-BYU thinking seriously about going independent, but needs 2 things: 1) a conference for non-football sports and 2) ESPN deal.
-USU president for obvious reasons wants BYU to join the WAC (makes sense).
-USU president sounds pissed at Boise St for leaving their conference, so it's an added bonus for him that BYU will be leaving MWC and will make a weaker conference for Boise St. (To be fair, the editor added words like "Albrecht GLEEFULLY" spoke about this. This was his own interpretation, not actual verbiage. Regardless, makes sense why USU would not particularly like BSU)
-WAC has to wait on BYU/ESPN deal to finish before they can finalize the plan
-MWC's Craig Thompson catches wind of this (doesnt say how) and invites Nevada/Fresno St.
-This weakened WAC conference and made it less appealing for BYU.
-USU president / WAC are upset because it looks like BYU won't go to their conference anymore.
-Next best option is that BYU joins WCC
-BYU makes deal with ESPN.
-Done deal.

None of this is the least bit incriminating against BYU. Like I said, you start off with one real fact, then inject a bunch of BS and try to extrapolate things to work for your narrative. But the facts say otherwise.

This, this right here! is the very attitude of the BYU arrogance we’ve come to dislike.

Of course I read the article.

Notice the headline, “Emails show how BYU WAC plans collapsed”!!!!!!!!!!

Again, did you read the actual article or just look at the title.

And the title doesn't say "BYU's plans". It was more USU/WAC plans for BYU to join them. But the WAC conference was weakened by Fresno and Nevada leaving, so BYU didnt join.

In the end it's the WAC that didnt get what they wanted.

Again, this doesnt incriminate BYU in any way.

Agreed, enough said. The very article that was pointed out as evidence for hatred of BYU actually absolves BYU of any guilt. Logic is hard

Now this is the first time I've seen the idea that the Project was a USU initiative. It has to be hard to dissemble the truth long enough in order to get to that twist. Well done.

Show me something that says otherwise and I'll read it. The article linked above shows the emails with USU / WAC conference. Obviously the WAC would want BYU to join their conference, it would make their conference stronger. That's just logic. When they lost 2 of their better members, it was no longer as strong, so the WCC become the better option. BYU was shopping conferences, clearly. That's a necessity when football goes Independent.

So show me something that said BYU's devised this whole plan...I've seen 0 sources saying that.

Yes, you were shopping conferences. And you were perfectly happy to dismantle your old one on the way out the door. And you got your little pals in Logan to take the lead for you.

Kind of like Boise saying they're going to the Big East and getting Idaho to work on pulling a bunch of MWC teams so they can find a landing place for their olympic sports. Oh wait, the part about Idaho and wrecking the MWC didn't happen.

But the BYU story did happen. And you can say that you're just following the lead of your little sisters in Logan, but it's just preposterous, because we know they're just that to you: little sisters. You were driving the ship.
