Like others have said, it takes a lot though, to convert to this model. Unfortunately, the transition is clearly a slow and painful one at this point. I do think Bohl has compounded the problem with his handling of DC players. Seems like he, or his coaches, took a new sheriff in town approach, and let the attrition rate balloon too much. Those veteran players really could have helped make for a smoother transition.

I don't think Bohl has just been revoking scholarships left and right on DC recruits. That's what it seems you're saying about the "new sheriff in town" approach, which I don't see here.

Attrition happens everywhere, especially after coaching changes. Some guys don't want to put in the work, others choose to focus on academics, and yet others want to stay loyal to the coach that recruited them to Laramie.

I don't see how any of that is Bohl's fault, and that probably accounts for a majority of the attrition.

Def Dimmel.....clearly remember an old man with his grandson yelling "F*** you Dimmel....you Fing suck" and wondering......wow....this is crazy *with stuff flying through the air. Actually remember a few players being held back from going into the stands after getting smoked with a half full souvenir cup.

I remember thinking...wow...why they hate Dimmel so much? This was before the BYU upset

I think what I'm the most shocked about is with all the talk of how freakishly strong _and_ mobile our lines have been during workouts (to the point of mentions in national media), they get pushed around at will all game long vs a team with far less scholarship players, coming from a "lesser" league. It's not like it was only the young guys getting pushed around either... Yarbrough was pretty much the ONLY guy not constantly overwhelmed.

Hala'api'api is a senior, and Appleby and Olive are juniors. Do they have any valid excuses? The o-line at least is pretty young, so there's that. Hopefully they learn fast.

I didn't see the game but nobody mentioned any players quitting on the field etc....actually haven't seen much about lack of effort....just confusion on how this happened.

Well, up until Josh Allen went down, the offense was cruising. Even after he went down, the run game was quite good. Smith is 3rd string for a reason. He's a decent runner, but had little to no confidence in throwing the ball, and it only got worse during the game. The defense, while young, that can only account for so much. For the amount of times the defenders were out of position, blew coverage (like wide open receivers), and open running lanes, that goes to coaching and scheming. And this is the guy that was with Sonny Lubick in his last years in Fort Fart. Yeah, he had THOSE defenses.
