Tevis Bartlett

I do not agree Tevis' school choice and not being injected into the system immediately was a bad move. Our coaches are convincing/asking kids to do the exact same thing. If all goes as planned, our future quarterback, Chandler out of OK, is going to ride pine for two years before having his shot at running this team. I am sure he could have gone somewhere else, even a local school somewhere and played much earlier. I believe good coaches have the ability to instill the importance of building a program. Tevis has been lucky and good enough to be able to play young in his career while waiting for his shot to be the big man on campus. This not dumb at all.

Chandler will probably have to wait 3 yrs. Look to be the man his redshirt junior year

Sort of OT I guess but Just FYI. The state of Wyoming gives 20 students a year pretty much near full ride to go to U Washington med school. Generally regarded as one of, if not THE, top medical school in the country. Just have to be wyo resident and even chances regardless of where you do undergrad.

The fringe guys always get me in recruiting. The high-end 3-Star talent. You can go to a G5 team and potentially be a star, or ride the bench at a P5 school. How many would-have-been legends have been lost to such decisions? What if Derek Carr had gone to USC instead? Or Kellen Moore (4-Star recruit) went to Washington? Bohl would have turned Tevis into a star at Wyoming. Oh well. Recruiting is trending upward. Bohl will land a high-end 3-Star talent this class, just wait on it.

I can verify this, my old man is close with trevis's dad, whom was a principle at the middle school in Rawlins. Trevis wanted a medical related degree. He is having a blast in Seattle, his family has traveled to every game. He likes where he is at... It's a cool opportunity.

I only found out this info like last week, had no idea... Then my dad was like... "Oh ya, by the way"

LOL @ the idea that this thread is anything but bitter.

Definitely has the feel of an ex-girlfriend (Lander) bashing the new girlfriend (Wash) while trying to make sure the guy sees her making out with someone at the bar (Logan Wilson).

Unless he wanted to go to medical school.. not gonna do that in Laramie as easily as Washington.
Are you joking? He could easily be doing his first year of medical school at the University of Wyoming which is ironically associated with the University of Washington. Plus it really doesn't matter where you do your undergrad. Maybe if you want to pay 5x for you undergrad Washington would be a good choice, I guess.

Unless you're on a full scholarship at one of the top medical schools in the country.

He isn't in Medical school though, he is an undergrad. If his goal was pre-med leading to Med school at the University of Washington that can actually be accomplished through WWAMI by attending Wyoming.

I would say that an up and coming PAC-12 program, and all that entails, has more to do with him being at Washington instead of Wyoming. Nothing wrong with that. I dont care personally, but I don't see the point in pretending it isn't about football. Boise recruits at a high level despite a lack of academic draw and many PAC schools recruit players that don't really belong at their high level academic institutions (see Tedford, Jeff and the APR situation he left at Cal).

We will have a shot to recruit players like Bartlett if we build a consistent winner. Simple as that.

I wonder how he likes riding the pine at Washington? He's a soph and has about 10 tackles this year mostly against a FCS school and Idaho. woop de doo. He could have been a rock star here, much like Logan Wilson. Give me a Logan Wilson any day over a kid who thinks they're too good for us. Hell, Logan Wilson is probably the better player, anyway.

This doesn't make any sense. He is getting some playing time as a Soph on a national championship contender. That is very impressive and likely means he is in line to be a key rotation player or starter in the next couple of years playing at the highest level of college football. I am sure he doesn't have any regrets.

Bohl was recruiting him as a quarterback. I think most would agree he was on a similar level as Austin Fort as a quarterback. He belongs on the defensive side of the ball. He has a chance to be a national champion this year. That's a lot more than he could say if he had stayed in state. It would have been great if he had stayed, but I can't blame a kid for taking a P5 offer over Wyoming. He's representing the state well. Why not be proud of the Wyoming kid instead of acting like a bitter ex girlfriend?

The only piece here I disagree with is the "Wyoming kid" part. He didn't want to be part of the state anymore. Nothing wrong with his choice, seems to be a great situation for him, but nothing to be celebrated as a Wyoming resident unless you are friends/family.

I'm familiar with the WWAMI.. one of my best friends used to coordinate it for the University of Montana. Probably a little bit easier to get in if you're a known quantity at Washington than being a remote student at Wyoming.

But really, Seattle's a pretty cool town, and I'd live there if I could figure out how to afford it (ie live by the water). Can't blame him for expanding his horizons and playing football for a pretty respectable coach who has that program absolutely dominating right now. Just because you leave Wyoming doesn't meant you don't want to be a part of it anymore.. how do you think this site got started.

I can't really speak to acceptance rates through WWAMI or anything like that, but during his recruitment he visited a number of P5 schools and I suspect that if Washington hadn't offered he would have ended up at another one of them (I am sure they all have a pre-med track and path to medical school of some type). IOW, the stature of the football program mattered greatly. While I can't claim to know for sure, all the evidence suggests we lost out on his recruitment primarily because we suck at Football (or used to????.god, I can't wait to be able to say that in the past tense), play in a weak conference, and are basically irrelevant nationally. Not because we lack academic opportunities.

I dont blame him for going to play for Petersen in the PAC-12. Like I mentioned in the other post, it seems to be working well. I just don't see any reason for anyone in Wyoming, besides his friends/family, to celebrate his accomplishments.

I could understand the animosity towards him if he went somewhere like CSU or BYU, but Washington? I think the "**** him" attitude is a little much.

Logan has a motor on him. He is a guy I am excited about. Our LBs have struggled for years and he will be a stud by the time he is upperclassman.
High motor guy? First guy in last guy out? Gym rat? Heady player? Deceptively fast?

I think Logan is quite a bit faster that Tevis. Logan ran a 11.16 100m in h.s., which is damn fast and Bartlett struggled to break 12 seconds, which is not fast. I could run faster than 12s in 8th grade. Logan isn't fucken huge like Bartlett, though.

I don't have a dog in this fight. Can't really fault the kid for making the best choice for him. Wish he had stayed in Wyoming, but this:

was not a good choice. If he wants to go to medical school, he shouldn't be at the same place for undergrad that he hopes to go to for medical school. That's generally frowned upon. He isn't in medical school yet, and won't be for four or five more years. In this instance, using the WWAMI program in Laramie, probably would have been better. It's gotten pretty competitive, though I do know a couple of other former athletes that have gone through the program.

Again, hope it all works out for him. But if he hopes to go to medical school at Univ of Washington, he probably shouldn't be there for undergrad. Just my :twocents: .

GO POKES!

I was listing white guy stereotypes. Like high motor

Meaning he is always on every play. Not sure where you went with it. Never heard that being a white guy stereotype, but whatever...

Not a friend or family, however, I did read where he met Peterson through a camp ( I think) and really liked him. In fact, I think Washington came into the recruiting process late and because Bartlett thought so highly of Peterson was receptive to them.
Also, it looks likes Washington will most likely make the national championship playoff. That, and his relationship with Peterson, both have to count for something.

Washington, beautiful setting, beautiful campus. Don't forget the Chris Peterson factor. Peterson is rapidly proving to be the best coach outside of Saban and Meyer. Chance to get into some really huge games in great environments. The games Washington is starting to play on a weekly basis make Wyoming's schedule look like a jayvee schedule.

You just can't fault him.
